A trace back of Morey rebuilding strategy & attractive Superman. Their strategy basically is clearing up the whole team and tell Howard it’s your freedom to build anyone you want. However, it failed. Howard preferred something already be built. He chose Lakers, who had stars, proven winning records and offer enough $. Seems Les was not giving him up yet. Houston had 1 more chance to chase Howard again this summer. They need a new strategy, the easier and proven one is copying Lakers: building a team with “stars”. Then Houston had the luck of acquiring Lin, a rising but unproven one, together with the promising Parsons. Certainly, also their big surprise trade of Harden. Early in the season, there’s no preference who could be brought as the next “star”. Harden and Lin shared the ball pretty evenly (And Lin was not standing at the corner yet). After around a month of experience, Harden’s superb stats showed he’s more capable to be the next star, instead of the slumping Lin. Under the new strategy, McHale is told to boost up Harden’s stats, in order to attract the Superman. Then it came the strange phenomenon. Lin shares the ball well, and makes every role player looks better. But McHale kept Harden for endless ISO plays, (selfish sometimes) & lesser defensive duty. Simply because the coach was told he needed Harden looks “as good as possible”. That’s explain why the coaching team did not adjust even most of the scouting report mentioned that. McHale is good at training, but sorry to say he’s poor coach in game-time decision. Fans here talked about firing him hundred times, but Morey kept him. Simply because McHale was told to do the bad iso-play, and he’s one of the “selling point” in this summer time for chasing Howard. And finally they succeed! Superman's now a Rockets. So what’s will be next? Will Harden share the ball? Yes, I guess so. He’s a willing passer since OKC. No point for him to keep iso-play anymore, with McHale wants the ball in the paint. Lin will probably gain more time running the offense too. The team offence is changed to half court inside-out / P&R. Lin is a proven passer teaming with big man. Howard would like the ball stay in Lin’s hand rather than Harden’s. Harden’s stat will be affected significantly (at least he’s not going to shoot 20+ times in a game). I hope he doesn’t mind about that. He’s not mind to be a 6th man, and he will not mind shooting less each game. Provide that they can win more. And Howard will be much more hard working than last year to prove himself right on leaving the Lakers. To be frank, i think he's a bit "lazy" last year. Finally, how about Asik? I guess he will play the PF~ He can shoot mid-range jumper actually (better than D12). He will not be in a diminishing role because he is a big trading bait.
