The Kings are throwing up in Utah. So it's done. We face the Mavs, the Kings vs the Sonics, Nuggets vs. Spurs and Grizzlies against Suns. The only first round upset that has a realistic chance of happening is us beating the Mavs. With Rashard back, the Sonics will sweep the Kings, the Spurs will lose maybe one game against the Nugs and Phoenix will barely have a hard practice session agains the Grizz.
I think actually the Kings have a good chance at this one. Cuttino < Ray Allen Peja > Rashard Bibby > Luke / Antonio KT - Williamson > Evans - Collison Skinner = James Bench Kings = Sonics Should be good, if the Kings can hold Ray and Shard down, then I think Kings in 5.
If Peja pulls his typical disappearing act during the playoffs, then I'd give the nod to Rashard in the SF matchup. Besides, this season Rashard has played at least as well as Peja.
Kings have a shot but i dont see them beating the Sonics especially if Radmanivich is back. Also in most years Peja > than Lewis but not this year. Lewis is having a career year and i actually give him the edge in that matchup.Unlike Peja, Lewis can acually play a little defense.
I'm beating a dead horse, I know, but you guys totally underestimate the Sonics. They will execute the Queens who don't play defense and don't have enough of an inside game. If Kenny Thomas somehow plays way over his head and averages 25 pts, 10 rebs, they MIGHT win. Anything less than that and you can pencil the Sonics into the 2nd round against the Rox/Mavs winner. aries323, if you think Peja is better than Rashard, you've got a short memory. Peja is the biggest choker in the NBA; even some Kings fans feel that way. Peja will be his normal playoff self and Rashard will humiliate him. Doesn't anyone see this? Can I find anyone else out there who respects the Sonics?
We don't exactly know how Rashard will perform in the playoffs, either. Will the Kings get Brad Miller back?
Yes-- and if the SUNS win that series which I'm assuming they will -they will be really tired since they are not a very deep team. Nash is also injury prone during the play-offs .... If we can somehow get through Dallas in the 1st round-then I think our chances in the 2nd are even better...
Yeah, what's interesting is that while Seattle would definitely be the easier first round opponent, the Rockets would have to face the Spurs in the semifinals. Yet while the Mavs will undoubtedly be a tougher first round matchup, that puts Houston in the same bracket as Phoenix who would be much easier to defeat than San Antonio. I guess the moral of the story is if you wanna win a championship, you can't avoid the really good teams forever.
Technically that was only every other round (Check cwebbster's sig). But the '95 Rockets were the only team that bested four 50 win teams enroute to an NBA title. Which is something that this year's Rocket's have a chance at doing.
Ya know, I would just giggle my ass off if the Sonics beat the Kings in round 1. And I tell ya... that groin injury of Peja's may be a factor. -- droxford
