After looking at the remaining schedules for the 7th, 8th, and 9th place teams in the west, I am encouraged by our chances. I tried to be as subjective as possible (if that is actually possible) in predicting the outcome of the stretch run. As it stands now: 7. PHX 37-25 8. MIN 38-26 9. HOU 35-29 Record down the stretch: 1. HOU 11-7 2. PHX 10-10 3. MIN 7-11 How it will end up: 7. PHX 47-35 8. HOU 46-36 9. MIN 45-37 The MIN game at the end of the season is soooooooo crucial. Of course, that is not Minnesota's last game. They have to go to Dallas and play the next night for what will be their last game - also 5 of their last 6 on the road - the home game being against Utah ------------------
"objective".... if you were subjective, I'd hope that you could put a few more wins on the Rockets side. ------------------ "We've never been very comfortable with praising ourselves, but we're so proud of our new album, The Great Eastern, that we've got no problem telling people it's an absolutely fantastic record." I would be more optomistic if we could stop the "lose the first 3 quarters, win the fourth/win the first 3 quarters, lose the fourth" But hey, if you wanted blowouts, go watch football! ------------------ Nice guys finish last ... and im surely not going to finish last!
I can't see Minn finishing the season out so poorly. I'm expecting a record more like 10-8 at worst. The Phoenix projection is better, though I'd say 11-9. As for the Rockets, I'm hoping 12-6. That would leave records of: Rockets 47-35 TWolves 48-34 Suns 48-34 Which would leave us just short. But, a heck of a lot better than my 41-41 prediction I made at the start of the season. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
The way I see it is that: Hou: 13-05 48-34 Dal: 08-11 48-34 Min: 08-10 46-36 Phx: 10-10 47-35 The way I calculated it is that all home and away games to SA, SAC, LAL, UTH, POR are losses. Against each other home court is winner.... Against anyone else (including PHL) winner... We could get 6th seed since we will own the tie break against Dallas with a win in Houston.... ------------------ Tennessee is a suburb of Houston. Go Oilers....
Remember, the only team we can hold a tie-breaker with is Dallas, and I dont think we will catch them. ------------------ "GiddyUP!!!" Krammer from Seinfeld
I put this up a week or so ago and I wanted to update it. As it stands now: 7. PHX 38-27 1-2 since this was posted 8. MIN 39-28 1-2 also 9. HOU 38-29 3-0 unbelievable!!! Record down the stretch as originally posted up top: 1. HOU 11-7 only need to go 8-7 now but I say 10-5 2. PHX 10-10 need to go 9-8 and I will stick with this 3. MIN 7-11 need to go 6-9 but they have been playing better so 8-7 How it will end up: 7. Hou 48-34 2 games up from what I thought previously 8. Phx 47-35 exactly where I expect them 9. Min 47-35 2 games up from earlier. The 8 seed will depend mainly on the head to head meeting between MIN and PHX. If PHX wins they, at this time, have a slightly better conf. record leaving MIN out with no lottery pick to look forward to. Achebe, this time I did try to be "objective" - thanks for the lesson. ------------------ [This message has been edited by B-ball freak (edited March 20, 2001).]
