Yeah, I'm pretty sure this thread won't end up in D&D...

A little off topic, but who invented the photo mosaic? That has to be one of the coolest forms of art ever...

Much better than peeing in a bucket on stage.

I don't know, but it was used in a very cool way by the character played by Antonio Banderas in Femme Fatale.

Rockhead, where did you get that funerals/fundraisers statistic? That's absolutely disgusting.

I believe the factoid came from a quote on the Democracy Now radio show.

How many soldier's funerals has ANY president gone to? My guess would be somewhere in the neighborhood of zero and none.

I'd say the first one was a great idea, but I've seen these photo mosaics done so often now, it's hardly worth anything (artistically).

Hey, at least he didn't combine funerals with fund-raisers. Give the guy some credit.

LBJ apparently went to two. One was for the son of a White House correspondent and one was a Major General he had previously met.

Nixon didn't apparently go to any Vietnam soldiers' funerals. FDR apparently didn't go to any WWII funerals. Carter went to a memorial service for the soldiers killed in the ill-fated hostage rescue attempt. Reagan went to memorial services for the soldiers killed in the attack on the Marine barracks in Beruit and a memorial service for those killed on the U.S.S. Stark. Clinton attended memorial services for those killed on the attack on the U.S.S. Cole. He also attended services for those killed at the Murrah Building in OKC (those weren't soldiers, obviously), though he did not visit the World Trade Center after the first terrorist attack there during his presidency.

The elder Bush apparently didn't attend any funerals, though Marlin Fitzwater says he did (and the elder Bush was upset when the news networks played a speech on his about the Gulf War on a split screen with the coffins of servicemen killed in the Gulf returning to the U.S.)

It seems very rare for a sitting President to attend any funeral for a fallen soldier, though attendance at memorial services for several dead is not at all uncommon.

    Sad. Isn't it?

    Thanks for the run down.

This one is not that good because the color, saturation, etc. of the photos have been manipulated to form the image. They are best when they are unaltered.

Would also have been more impressive if he could have gotten by using each face only once instead of 2 or 3 times. Dillutes the political message because it appears manipulative.
