I think Alston is thinking a superstar FA is going to the team; that's the only reason why a role player would play for the Knicks right now, at this point in time.
This particular role player might be interested in playing for the Knicks because he is from New York.
Yall remember when he killed Sasha after we beat the lakers to make it 22 straight.... Yall remember all his tear drop bricks?
Makes sense for both...asusming he accepts a back up role. He's a decent back up and he'll prob accept the minimum just to play at home, which means more savings for NY, so they can sign FAs
Rafer didnt accept a back up role in magic, nets, heat and the hell not in New York. An egoistic player is the last thing they need, but I forgot NY is dumb enough to sign him.

I don't think the Knicks can fit all of Lee, Boozer and Johnson within their cap room. And that team probably doesn't make it out of the first round.
He wants to play with the Knicks, but does the Knicks want him?? He is done, so it would be nice to have him in the knicks so they continue losinf and the picks worth a lot.
That's great and all, but as I was saying, I don't think the Knicks can even put that team together under the salary cap.
Joe Johnson is going to demand the max, especially to play for a desperate team like the Knicks. Carlos Boozer will demand at least $11-12M per season. That leaves about $4-5M tops to re-sign David Lee. That ain't going to cut it. The numbers just don't add up, even if Johnson and Boozer sign for a little less.
Alston was just as important to us as McGrady during our 22 game win streak. After that he was a vital piece to Magic's playoff success and into the finals. I don't care what people say, Alston may have declined and he may not be the most efficient player, but Alston has a winner's mentality.
