Steve Blake Joel Przybilla Travis Outlaw FOR Shane Battier Luis Scola Kirk Snyder Why the Portland Trail Blazers want to do this trade: Didnt they say they want Shane Battier for locker room purpose before this season? Shane's Production has drop a little bit, but his defense is still there and he allows the Blazers to compete right away after Oden comes back next year. Their front court would be so deep(Oden, Frye, Aldridge, Scola) that they wont be hurt trading away Outlaw. Snyder is a throw-in to sweeten the pot because of his short contract. Why the Houston Rockets want to do this trade: This is the only way to get another rising star without giving up Tmac or Yao. We have to take on Przybilla and Blake's bad contracts. Steve Blake is just another Rafer with better 3-point shooting. Przybilla has a bad contract, but he is a servicible Center. Outlaw is athletic, young, and gifted in offense, the perfect PF next to Yao.
I would rather have Jason Kidd + Richard Jefferson + maybe fillers or picks in exchange for T-Mac + Shane Battier + Rafer Alston
There were rumors this past offseason that Portland offered Outlaw and Jarret Jack for Battier, but the Rockets turned them down. I know Battier’s trade value has fallen a lot this season, but I don’t think it’s fallen so much that we have to trade both Battier and Scola for Outlaw, as well as take on bad contracts. An Outlaw for Battier swap, I would make in a heartbeat though.
care to explain? i know Scola should be a keeper, but we need to give up something for Outlaw, a 23 year-old rising star @ PF who is able to score 20+ on many night
Since they are NOT competing for a championship this year, they will trade away players who got bad contracts with mediocore productions (Joel, Blake). This way after 2~3 yrs they have more cap room to sign better players. The Rockets could do the same, but i think our window to compete is closing in 2~3 yrs.
They just signed Blake and leaving Jarrett Jack to run the point night in and night out isn't the smartest thing to do. Pryzbilla is actually playing fairly well for them. Their nucleus of Roy/Aldridge/Webster/Outlaw will be devastating in a few years. And this doesn't even include a Greg Oden coming back.
NO *****ING WAY. trading away scola and battier is a horrible idea in general, and your proposal doesn't bring near enough in return. the players you want are good players pryzbilla is a rebound machine and plays decent interior defense outlaw is has the wingspan of a cessna steve blake manages the ball very well. probably would like to see him as a rocket the most. too costly, battier may not be the answer but he is a pivotal cog in our machine. nobody coming in this trade would fill shane's void.
Przibilla. . . didn't we trade him Scola amd Yao IMO can be the Mainstay of this team A stong neucleus T-mac can be a part of it too Rocket River
you guys take battier our of the line-up, if god forbid he should get injured, you would see how much it DOES mean. plus, where is your allegience? the rockets have played mediocre lately, and there is cause to be critical lately. i'm not advocating blind devotion or ignoring all ill-deeds, but they ARE NOT a mediocre team. your assertion that they 'don't really mean much' goes against my rocket religion. also, by definition, something that is a pivotal part DOES really matter to the machine as a whole, even if you think your team is mediocre.
yeah that trailblazers trade sucks plus the trailblazers prolly would trade steve blake for a second time after he was signed from nuggets in this season's off-season...plus really of those guys are keepers...synder, scola, and battier... we gotta give the team a chance...rafer alston has really shown his worth...i game where he hasn't played due to injury the offense has suffered mightily
Travis Outlaw is most certainly worth trading for especially for any bitter Rockets fans over the Rudy Gay situation since in many ways they are almost the same player. That having been said and given Outlaw's recent hot streak, why would Portland move him? He's playing for $4-5 million a year too so it's not like his contract is bad.
