The top 10 lottery busts of the last decade
    By Kelly Dwyer

OK, we know the first decade of the 21st century doesn't really end until 2011. We think. But we also know there have been 10 full NBA seasons played since the phrase "Y2K" was on all of our lips (1999-2000), and here at Ball Don't Lie we've decided to use this as an offseason excuse to rank some of the best and not-so-brightest of the 10 campaigns in question. The result? Why, top 10 lists!

There have been 10 drafts since the year 2000, including the year 2000. Seriously. Use your fingers. And, because drafting prospects of any regard is an inexact science, teams are bound to run into some bum picks here and there. Here's our list of the top 10 busts of the decade.

Nice read, as always. But no Jay Williams? Eddie Griffin? DaJuan Wagner? 2006 guys: Shelden Williams/Patrick O'Bryant/Saer Sene? Corey Brewer?

I might as well pencil Hasheem Thabeet in there too. No Thabeet?

These type of lists are so hard to make with so many busts and only 10 spots.

You shouldn't post the whole article.

wow, I haven't seen when that was posted and I don't really know its context, but what this shows major arrogance and lack of class. I understand that he gets paid per clicks on his article, but it's a bonus that this forum is reading it, it's not like we're stealing it or anything. He should at least ask nicely holy crap!

He has asked nicely more than a few times, so I would understand the frustration.

I occasionally wonder how good Jay Williams would have been if he hadn't completely destroyed his body in that motorcycle accident. (Seriously, a broken tailbone, torn ligaments and a severed nerve... ouch). I always thought he had game and flashed some pretty serious potential in college and during his rookie year. Kinda sad that it ended that way. Dumb decision, but still sad.

Kelly has contributed more good discussion to this board than you have in the time he has been a member.

With as many times as he has nicely asked not to screw him out of page views(which is how he keeps his job), I think his one time going off is totally understandable.

you could have made your point without the little personal jab, but it's all good.

I guess we disagree on whether us "screwing him out of page views" warrants going on a profanity-laced tirade or not..

Don't have a problem with the top 5. But 6-10 could be better, since there were players taken higher and were more of a bust.

I personally can't put Jay Williams on any bust-list, since his demise was accident-related. Not a product of him sucking.

I could see why your saying that.

Some people don't go to yahoo.com, and they wouldn't even have seen his article if it wasn't for ClutchFans.

But then again, Kelly has been a good member and have been posting quality stuff. (including some insider source)

No Olowokandi? The writer's NBA knowledge is worse than mine.

Making these lists is alot harder than it seems, Dwyer messed up his last 2 (best contracts and best teams not to win the title), but this one seems right on.

No problems with the list, just want to add to the sentiment that Dwyer getting upset about the full articles being posted is totally justified. It's the guy's livelihood, I don't see how you can disagree with that.

2 people that this board should not be copying and pasting their articles out of respect (and they asked nicely) is Kelly Dwyer and Jason Friedman.

there are many lottery busts but most of the ones on that lists came with all sorts of hypes (like Morrison being the next Larry Bird or Yi being the next great player out of China)

The biggest NBA bust of the last decade is dead and buried.
