For one of my famous single game prediction threads. It is now time to predict the outcome of the season opener, against the Hawks. It has been so long since I last started a thread like this, and now the time has finally come. Alright, here we go: Hawks 89 Rockets 93 This turns out to be a thriller. The Rockets lead the entire way, but never by more than six points. In the final minute, Francis scoops in a layup and the foul, but misses the free throw that would have given the Rockets a three point lead. Kevin Willis comes up with the rebound and flips the ball to Mobley in the corner, who blows past Tony Kucuc for the layup. The Hawks don't score again. Francis: 23 points, 7 assists, 4 boards Mobley: 21 points, 1 assist, 3 boards Willis: 10 points, 10 boards, 1 block Griffin: 10 points, 8 boards, 3 blocks Rice: 15 points, 4 assists, 4 boards The Rockets win their season opener for the first time in four years. This win prepares them for the next seven games, all losses.
I was just playing around, can't you take a little joke, sheesh... It kind of did piss me of though...
For future reference, when I use one of these: , that means I'm joking. Obviously, Houstone was just joking as well.
Rockets - 97 Hawks - 85 Steve - 23 pts, 6 assts, 8 rebs Cato - 8 pts, 9 rebs, 3 blcks Mobley - 16 pts, 3 assts, 6 rebs Rice - 8 pts on 33% shooting (Glen still getting his legs under him) KT - 18 pts, 7 rebs, 4 assts Griffin, Morris and Oz don't get much time because the Rockets don't really pull away until Francis takes over the game in the 4th quarter.
Hawks 88 Rockets 100 Rahim 27pts 7boards Terry 20pts 7assist Francis 25pts 8boards 6assist Mobley 23pts 5boards Griffin 8pts 5boards 2blocks Willis 12pts 11boards
I was wrong. They have lost the last three season openers. 98-99 at LA Lakers 99-00 vs Milwaukee 00-01 vs Minnesota
Rockets 101 Hawks 95 Rockets lead most of the way -- it gets close in the bottom of the third, Rocks pull away in the fourth, and the actual victory was bigger than the score indicates. Tmo will have a good game against his former (10 minute) team and Steve and Cuttino will be great.
steve is in foul trouble, mooch is in foul trouble...so rudy brings in... tierre: 28 pts 7 rebounds 13 assists 4 steals
In all honesty i think it is most likely that Mobley will lead the team in scoring. i think its also likely that we will lose. sorry, but i thinkthat atlanta is pretty good this year, and i think our guys havnt played enought games together and will be a bit erratic. their being more vetran will give then the edge. but mobley will likely lead teh team, maybe the game steve will also likely have low assist numbers and high rebound numbers, but his usual near 20 pts. our young blockers will get called for goaltending about as many times as they are credited with the block. we will all be excited about what we see, but frustrated with the outcome, as well as some of the calls the voice of reason has spoken peace
Francis 31 points/5 assists/ 6 rebounds / 2 steals Mobley 21 points / 2 assists / 5 rebounds Rice 13 points / 5 rebounds Willis 11 points / 15 rebounds Cato 5 points / 4 rebounds / 5 fouls Thomas 9 points / 3 rebounds Griffin 8 points / 7 rebounds / 2 blocks Moochie 9 points / 6 assists Tmo 5 points / 3 rebounds / 2 steals Torres 3 points / 1 rebound / 2 steals Rockets 115 Hawks 101
Rocks 108 Hawks 99 Franchise 37pts/9rebs/8asst Mobes 18/4/4 Thomas 15/13/2 Rice 9/3/3 Cato 7/8/3blks Mooch 6/1/4 Willis 11/7/1 blk Grif 4/4/1 blk Wiz 1/1/1 Voice, Don't think that Mobes will lead us in scoring...Stevie will have a break-out year and avg approx 23.5 p/g. Think Mobes will drop a bit into the 18-19 pt range...Rice will get some of his ops.
Rockets 118 Hawks 119 Steve Francis suffers a career-ending ankle injury in the fourth quarter. Cuttino wonders aloud to the media after the game whether or not he wants to continue on a Steve-less Rockets team... (sorry, since ZRB's not doing his job, thought I'd fill in )
