    We're 4 games back

    Remaining games for Minnesota
    At Vancouver
    At LA Lakers
    At LA Clippers
    Utah
    At Houston
    At Dallas

They could go 1-5 here . Record 46-36

    Rockets remaining games
    At Utah
    Denver
    At Portland
    At Vancouver
    Minnesota
Now if we go 5-0 Record 47-35

Anything could happen, but let's be realistic. Assume we go 5-0 for the sake of argument-- cause if we don't the whole discussion is mute. The Twolves will beat the Grizz... I'd bet almost anything on that. So you have to look at the Twolves last 5 games. Where am I uncomfortable? The Clips game. Even though the Clips have played well lately, I can't envision the TWolves losing a huge game to seal up the playoffs against an inferior team. It would be nice, but the Twolves in the past week just beat Portland twice and then Phoenix. I can't envision them going 0-5 against the Lakers, Clips, Jazz, Rockets, and Mavs. Anything can happen, but the odds are so slim at this point I don't even try and think about it.

I've always found mute discussions worthless. [IMG]

i think the rockets still making the playoffs isn't as far off a reality than most of us think.

the rockets, no doubt, have to go undefeated for the rest of the season. and the t'wolves must lose four more games, which isn't unrealistic, since they still need to play the Lakers, Jazz, Maverick, and us.

i think houston shot themselves in the foot by losing to weak teams like the nets and the clips lately... but anything is possible in this league. this is clearly not a 'mute discussion'

Well guys, we are OFFICIALLY the last of the optimists...I just can't let myself let this playoff dream go. As long as we're still mathetmatically alive, I'm watching all the Rockets and Timberpups games. You can say I'm stupid and hopeless, but one thing I AM is a Rockets fan.

So, you can all guess that I was ****TING my pants during that Lakers/Minn game. [IMG]

We might as well talk about it today since tonight we play the Jazz. It will be hard to beat them after what we did to them last week.

But I still believe. I thought 47 wins would be enough but I am having my doubts now.

I think the Vancouver Grizzles would beat the Lakers because the Grizzles said they hope the Rockets make the playoffs. The Grizzles want the Rockets to make the playoffs because of a draft pick. Therefore, the Grizzles would play very hard to win. We really have to depend on the Clippers, Lakers, Mavericks and most importantly the Rockets to win.

The Grizz would beat the Lakers? Or do you mean the T-Wolves?

You probably meant Minnesota but there's one thing I've learned:

never draw conclusions on the net.

Chris Webber at the July 28, 2001 3:00 PM news conference when he announces where he will go:

"It seemed tough, but with guidance from Steve Francis, I learned my true destiny. That destiny is to play for the Houston Rockets, to bring them back to championship glory. One big man is all they need, and I believe I can fill that void. Thanks to the loyal fans in Sacramento, but Houston, Texas is where I belong."

I hope we can make the playoffs after only a one year absence, that would be too kool.

Just so you set your expectations correctly, we'd have to go undefeated and the T-Wolves would have to lose 5 games. If the TWolves only lose 4, then we'd end up tied and Minnesota would get the 8th spot based on the tie breaker.
