Tua and Young profile the same if both are healthy. Tua's not healthy and will end up having a shorter career. I expect about the same from Young both in terms of talent level and unfortunately injury wise also.
So Stroud is Mahomes? I dont think Stoud wil be a bust. I do think he will be a top 10-15 tpye QB, on certain days he will be top 5 on other days he will be a top 25 QB. Certainly not good enough to have to deal with his agent. Hopefully Cal looks at things this way, if not then Cal will get what he deserves.
Not the same school argument, same draft profile argument. What's different about Tua/Young? Nobody seems to be able to answer this question.
I would say that Tua was more willing to move outside the pocket, but Bryce is more slippery in the pocket. Bryce seems to have better processing ability and football smarts, according to people I've read. Bryce, I think is better at finding open receivers on broken plays. He always has his eyes down the field, even when running for his life. Bryce doesn't have the injury history. And that's just non mechanical differences, which I won't touch because I don't know the ins and outs of QB mechanics. For some reason I feel like Tua might have had better talent around him, but not totally sure. Bryce played for a former NFL head coach (two of them, technically), and mastered the offense. O'Brien himself said he gave Bryce more responsibility than he thought he would because of Bryce's football smarts. That being said, Tua without all the injuries, and with weapons, is a great quarterback who I'd be happy with a 2. I'm fine if your opinion is different though.
Check out their draft profiles pretty different. Lol, whoever it was mentioned Tua, Jones and Bryce in the same breath.
The same exact things except Tua playing outside the pocket was said by these pundits about Tua and is being said about Young. I think Tua's a top 10-15 QB, not a top tier QB.
I’m not a draft Bryce at all costs person, but most people seems to think he has a better arm than Tua. The problem with Bryce is that he has no real elite physical trait. Kyler Murray had a stronger arm and was much faster when he was taken 1st overall. Bryce is 5’10’ , skinny, and has a decent arm. The reason to take him at 2 would be if the Texans think he’s a much better decision maker than any QB in this class. CJ is probably more accurate and has decent size. Richardson has the strongest arm in this class and the best size and speed. Levis has a good to great arm and has more accuracy than AR, but most people seem to hate the idea of getting him.
Anticipation and footwork. Weaknesses: Serious hip injury could limit his career Ability to play in his rookie season is in question Durability Numerous lower leg injuries Lack of elite arm strength Less than ideal height Could improve anticipation Could improve footwork Could improve mechanics Left-handed will cause acclimation time for receivers Will need to improve his preparation habits Weaknesses: Short Thinner framed; underweight for typical quarterbacks Could have durability issues in the NFL Height could be a problem to execute three-step-drop passing in the NFL
I’ll take between the ears traits before speed and arm every day of the week.. see Tom Brady. No I’m not saying Young is Brady. I’m saying the ability to read defenses, adjust plays, play off schedule, be accurate, and anticipate throws allows your to overcome not having 4.3 speed and throw it 80 yards Meanwhile, throwing 80 yards and running fast does NOT save you from being inaccurate, and bad under pressure or at reading defenses. but ppl like flashy. I want good.
Weaknesses mirror each other Injuries- one had lower limb injuries and the other had shoulder injuries. I wouldn't say Tua throws with a lack of anticipation, in fact I would say that's a strength of his. Same with Young. All of the other things are just this guys opinion. Example: Needs to prepare better, how does this guy know that Tua wasn't properly prepared? Looked like he was properly prepared in college and preparation hasn't been an issue in the NFL etc...
I don’t mind the Texans drafting Young at 2. But if he plays and does terribly, I hope they don’t hold on to him as QB1 for too long. He should show some progress by end of next year.
Mainly it's the size. Also I think if Young happens to stay healthy, which I find unlikely, the best case scenario for Young is Tua and I expect more than avg to slightly above avg out of 1-2.
I would say Tua/Young's arm strength are very comparable. I dont hate the idea of getting Levis more than any other QB in this draft except for Stroud/Richardson, in fact I like Hooker better than any of these QB's. With this said I hope they dont draft a QB high in this draft, although I that's exactly what they're going to do.
