preliminary reports are that three Westerners' compounds were targeted with car bombs. I'm sure there will be many casualties as a result. I wonder what the Saudi government's response will be? link
This is bad news for the Saudi leadership. I sense that if the Saudi don't get serious about cleaning house soon, then their undeserved preferential treatment will end.
This is like asking Pigpen to clean house, ... asking Clinton to take a vow of chastity, ... or asking Rumsfeld to attend a northern California clothing-optional medidation and yoga retreat.
This is one tremendous fringe benefit of the war in Iraq. With Iraq as a major oil supplier, we can stop supporting the oppresive Saudi regime. Our dependence on Saudi oil put us in a very awkward position.
There are now reports of 40 + Americans injured. Also, North Korea may have attacked American aircraft with lasers. It is time for people of good will to take a stand against oppressive regimes. Freedom for all the people of the world should be our highest priority, because only then will our people be safe.
Dr. Evil: Back in the 60's, I developed a weather changing machine which was in essence a sophisticated heat beam which we called a 'laser.'_ Using these 'lasers' we'd punch a hole in the protective layer around the world which we called the 'ozone' layer._ Slowly but surely ultraviolet rays would pour in,_ increasing the risk for skin cancer, that is...unless the world pays us a hefty ransom? No. 2: Ahem....that also already has happened. Dr. Evil: S**t!
Holy Cow! With a budget supplied mainly by drug dollars and weapons trade, North Korea manages to leap frog from the iron age into Star Wars age with laser weapons ahead of the world's lone superpower, the United States. I bet they have phasers, warp drive and teleporters, too. But when we conquer North Korea and can't find them, it'll be because they destroyed them first, right?
The Russians directed a laser weapon at US aircraft several years ago, and partially blinded a couple of Navy pilots. They never recovered their eyesight. I understand that you don't understand the significance of this provocation, so I will forgive your sarcasm.
That's a very funny poke at me. I'm pretty sure the United States is the world leader in laser weapons technology. A country that does not have enough power to heat it's elite army barracks is hardly a threat to the United States. But since the election is in 2004, we will be sure to rattle our sabres before then... Holy cow! We need to invade casinos in Mississippi! Now. They have lasers and have attacked US military aircraft. http://www.fas.org/nuke/control/ccw/info.htm
I will pit a 70 year old Donald Rumsfeld against any 3 Ruskie 70 year olds you can find. Donald is a true badass.
It's kinda weird that here they say the expect a full recovery: http://www.cnn.com/US/9705/14/russia.laser/ But then civil lawsuits came up and he's permanently damaged now.
hmmm, for partisan purposes, you are saying that a couple of Vets are lying for cash in a lawsuit, and you have ZERO evidence that your theory is true. VERY POOR FORM ON YOUR PART!!
Well let's see, if we take the low standard of civil lawsuits, he lost his day in court, even with a ton of right wing money behind him. Most of the information on this case in on right wing partisan pages. Can't imagine why... Personally I think they did aim the submarine detection device at the helicopter, but the helicopter was very close to the boat. The relevance of this to discussion of laser weapons is limited at best. I want to see our military take on southern belles in casinos. They have more powerful lasers.
He is not pointing out a change in their story. The doctors said they expected a full recovery for the pilots, but that tells us nothing. We have no information from the article posted if the pilots recovered from their injuries.
