HOUSTON earlier today, a muslim citezen's business burned down by non muslim TERRORISTS Mosque severely vandalized in the bear creek area by TERRORISTS irani student assaulted at university of houston by TERRORISTS DALLAS 3 mosques attacked by TERRORISTS CHICAGO 3 women assaulted, one fatally, by TERRORISTS a personal friend of mine chased by a moving vehicle by TERROISTS NEWYORK 2 muslim women fatally attacked by TERRORISTS
A hispanic friend of mine whose grandparents were born in San Antonio, but who looks Arab with a beard and all, told me that he is thinking of carrying a shotgun in his car. He has ben mistaken for an Arab before. Tell you truth he does look the part. Never noticed that before, since he is so obviously Mexican American and I've known him for many years. I hope it doesn't get too crazy.
I feel your pain. I got into a heated argument with my roomate who is Mexican-American. It all started when he said,"I saw a bunch of Sand Ni@!as waiving American flags and it made me sick." He continued by saying that they are all perpertrating as Americans and that they all need to be rounded up. That got me even MORE MAD! I began to yell at him and wanted to kick him out of my house. I told him, there are Mexican Terrorists, Japanese Terrorists, and even White Terrorists i.e. McVeigh. It is so sad but the bigotry and hate is exactly what the Terrorists want us to do. They want us to fear all people. I asked him, if it was Mexicans that did this, how would you feel? He then said I was ignorant for not realizing that this is how the country feels. Any kind of RACIAL PROFILING is WRONG! PERIOD! STOP THE MADNESS!
I wouldn't call them "terrorists." They're merely bigots who think everyone of middle-eastern descent are either terrorists or support the terrorists. But I agree with you Silk. They ARE among us.
sad thing is that the people doing this are just as cowardly as the terrorists that bombed the WTC, (peace be on the soles of all the god loving people who passed away) they terrorise the women and children of america. i want to believe the difference between us and them is that we are more civilized. and i wouldnt be surprised to see someone willing to protect their rights as americans, cause i know i would
a terrorist by definition is one that attacks innocent people to send a message to a greater problem. the "un-american" f****** that are trying to cover up cowardly attacks on innocent people in the name of patriotism are nothing but terrorists
From The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition ter·ror·ism n. The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons. This I think that it fits the broad definition. I think I'd actualy describe it as the formless misdirection of rage to the closest target as these idiots percieve it. This type of response, which is similar to, but much worse than, the idiots is Palastine cheering at the photos of the World Trade Center, is about the best advertisement for the benifits of a thorough education that I can think of. Kids, stay in school.
More than anything, I wish the president would get on TV, and do a broadcast to directly address this problem. It is hateful, it is un-american.
Ignorant bastards I've heard around 800 muslim people may have lost their lives in the WTC attack. The muslim community is suffering along with the rest of the nation, and now they have to live in fear from yet another angle. These people who are commiting these hate crimes have NO right to call themselves Americans.
Silk: get real! While these actions are a shame, don't equate some people overwhelmed with fear and/or grief (and having an anger management problem) with the cold-blooded, cold-hearted terrorists that really do exist. It is not un-American; it is a human frailty.
Here's a feel good story: A man was stuck in Chicago. A cab driver was nice enough to drive him home......to FLORIDA. That cab driver had a wife and a newborn at home, yet he still sacrificed. He happened to be Muslim. No link, but I heard it on the radio.
Silk: get real! While these actions are a shame, don't equate some people overwhelmed with fear and/or grief (and having an anger management problem) with the cold-blooded, cold-hearted terrorists that really do exist. Wait a minute. We call Palestinians who fire guns and throw bombs into Israeli population centers (due to anger and hatred towards them) terroristss. Why don't we call Americans who fire guns and throw bombs into Muslim population centers (due to anger and hatred towards them) terrorists? They may not be long-term terrorists and they may not commit suicide, but they are doing the exact same thing. It's silly to blame this on "human frailty".
RichRocket, Could not disagree more. It is MOST un-American. These actions are not 'a shame', they are revolting. These people are being terrorized and they are innocents. I feel sick again, and this time it is Americans...d*mn. As the Muslim here have tried to tell us, remember that its is only a small number if miscreants. What we do about this?? Any good ideas for a website to get the word out about this cr*p?
Man, I've disagreed with you before, but this takes the cake. murdering Americans because they look Muslim is cold-blooded, cold-hearted, and very un-American. Innocents will die in a War, but it shouldn't be like this.
Had the wrong link in the last post here it is http://news.indiatimes.com/articleshow.asp?art_id=50046512 Sikh shot dead in Arizona NEW YORK: A 52-year-old Sikh and a Pakistani were shot dead in Arizona and Texas in continuing attacks on ethnic immigrants following last week's terrorist strikes in the U.S. Four unidentified gunmen drove up in two pick-up trucks to the gas filling station owned by Balbir Singh Sodhi at Mesa in Arizona and shot him dead Saturday night, possibly mistaking him for an Arab, Rajwant Singh, President of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education, said. However, Mesa police spokesman Sgt Mike Goulet said Sodhi was killed by a lone gunman who later went to a second station and opened fire repeatedly. The assailant also went to a house and fired several shots. In a separate attack, Pakistani immigrant Waquer Hasan, 46, was shot dead in his grocery store in Dallas, Texas. "We don't deserve this kind of treatment," said Sodhi's younger brother Lakhwinder Singh Sodhi. "He wouldn't have any enemies," said Balbir's cousin Harjit Singh. The owners of the second gas station said the first rounds fired by the gunman hit a tobacco rack inside the store. The clerk then dropped to the ground. The owners, brothers Ali Saad and Saad Saad, would not identify the clerk. Latwinder Singh said "since we wear turban and beard, 99 per cent Americans think we belong to bin Laden. They come to our store, tell us we are terrorists and ask us to go back to our country", Latwinder Singh said. Balbir Singh Sodhi, according to Rajwant Singh, had received numerous death threats just as "many thousands of Sikhs are receiving throughout the nation." Dr Singh is closely associated with a major Gurdwara and various Sikh associations in Washington and was on the White House all religious advisory body during the Clinton Administration. Police are not yet branding the latest killing as backlash but say all evidence now point in that direction. Several Sikhs and Muslims have been harassed, abused and beaten up across the US and most of Muslim institutions closed after being targeted by hate-groups in the wake of terrorist attacks on New York and Washington on Sept 11. Gurdwaras, Hindu temples and mosques have been fired at or damaged. Police are now keeping a watch on several of them as community leaders appear on television networks and take out advertisements to explain that Sikhs having beards and wearing turban are not followers of Osama bin Laden. President George W Bush himself has appealed several times that all Muslims should not be held responsible for an act of terrorism. But with the television networks repeatedly showing Taliban leaders and Osama bin Laden with flowing beards and headgear the attacks on Sikhs have not stopped. A leading Sikh Community leader in New York Dr Surinder Malhtora denied reports a Sikh was beaten to death in the Queens area of the city where Richmond Gurdwara was attacked and fired at with rubber bullets a few days ago. The Indian community held a candlelight vigil last night and Malhotra said what is needed is educating the people that Sikhs are not followers of bin Laden.
My objection was to silk trying to compare these few isolated incidents to the actions of the 19 or so terrorists who took down 4 planes, killed some 5000 innocents, and troubled the rest of us. They took months or years to plan. They struck out of the blue. If that action is un-American, what else is it? Pro-German? Pro-Sweden? Pro-Mexican? This is much bigger than being American or unAmerican. It is a human probem, not one of nationality. Any civilized person objects to vigilantism loosed upon innocents. The terrorists do not object to it though. These isolated acts of revenge are deplorable and criminal but it is a reach to call them terrorism and it does a disservice to the real victims of terrorism. Just because you terrorize someone does not make you a terrorist. Just because you kill someone does not make you a terrorist. Do you think these perpetrators in Texas and Arizona will be tried as terrorists or murderers?
Just because you terrorize someone does not make you a terrorist. Hmmm, what is a terrorist then? Do you think these perpetrators in Texas and Arizona will be tried as terrorists or murderers? Out of curiosity, do we actually try people for "terrorism", or do we just try them for multiple-murder/conspiracy/materials-possession/etc?
