I just watched a CNN newsconference with the Taliban ambassador to Pakistan... Zaeef. He claims that 20 women, children, and old people were killed in a part of the bombing raid on Kabul. What no brave Talibanian Devils staying behind to defend their women, children, and parents?! The only mention he made of military target was the successful taking out of a radar installation. Oh, the greatest military force in the world is just so inept! They are also claiming to have shot down at least one plane and in some reports three.
We've shot down one of your supersonic aircraft, even though we have nothing that can match its speed. You've also killed 20 women and children who happened to be in our APCs on the front line. Bad, BAD America! No one who matters is even listening to them anymore. When you tell a continuous stream of lies that lasts for 6 years straight, those things happen...
those poor poor 20 civilians. Did we forget to tell them they are aiding a man who killed 5500 of our civilians?
Are we sure they were aiding him? Are we sure they weren't fleeing or hiding? Do we know they despise or supported the Taliban? If they were killed in battle, so be it. However, if they were innocent, then I don't look at it as "20 of yours for 5500 of 'ours'", but rather "5520 innocent". Right now I don't believe a damn thing the Taliban says, so I'm not even sure 20 people were killed, so this may all be a moot point.
Why didn't they flee Kabul like the reported tens or hundreds of thousands of others? Either they were unwilling or unable, I guess.
The Taliban aiding Bin Laden? Yes, they are aiding him. By not turning him over now and a long time ago, they were aiding him. Doesn't matter who they supported or if they were hiding/fleeing. A civilian is not a soldier, so therefore he is innocent, regardless what he is doing, and does not deserve to die. The moment a 8 year old picks up a weapon to use against us, he is the enemy and he is to be treated like one. And I totally agree ... This is probably propaganda. I don't believe this just like I don't believe a lot of the crap is said in the media.
Did anyone see this quote? The last sentence just sums up how untruthful they are. He should have just said "I have never....". ``This is a disgrace and a dishonor to the Islamic world,'' Taliban Ambassador Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef told a news conference in Islamabad. ``Afghanistan (news - web sites) has never committed a terrorist act in its history. No, we train them and then send them around the world and they commit their terrorist acts from other countries. So, it's not our country....it's those other countries doing it .
I hope there were no civilian casualties, but it is unlikely that we will be totally able to avoid them. What really pisses me off, however, is that the media always seems to accept the accusation (by the Taliban here, Iraq during Desert Storm) that the U.S. caused all of the civilian casualties. During Desert Storm, Iraq would light up the night sky with mostly ineffectual anti-aircraft fire for the benefit of CNN, but miraculously none of it ever came down and hit anyone .
Now lets just say this was 20 people being killed because they were straight; or 20 people being killed because they were white; or 20 people being killed because they had babies ... i'm sure you conservatives would be all over this!
Well, of course the Taliban is aiding bin Laden by not turning him over, but I was referring to the 20 that were supposedly killed. Were they just innocent shopkeepers or were they actually toting around AK-47's? I agree with you that a shopkeeper with an AK-47 is a target, but 20 people just hangin' out and getting killed is tragic, and yes, they would just be civilians. Of course I don't expect us to make sure "all innocents" are clear before we bomb the crap out of a building, so maybe I'm asking for too much. War sucks.
I hope there weren't any innocent civilians killed, but I'd trust the Taliban about as far as the U.S. could fire a 15 megaton missile at his sorry @ss. The guy is a liar, plain and simple.
Achebe -- you always know just the right words to be entirely inappropriate, don' t you? thanks for the political rhetoric while the nation unites together to fight a common enemy. great job, once again. your track record is outstanding!
Funny you should mention that.... There is already a man reported to have been killed at the Pakistani border after being hit with Taliban anti-aircraft fire. At least, that's what CNN says. I believe he was Pakistani as well.
Well what gets me is that these regimes are chock-full of cowards. Rather than face the enemy head on they hide where civilans are or sent a suicide bomber to kill the enemy's civilans. Has there even been a serious war general in any of those countries in the past 10 or so years?
