I put this in my last article towards the end, but after tonight, I have to point this crazy stat out. Phoenix averages 27.1 assists per game, which is good for 1st in the league. Detroit is second with a little under 24 a game. No big whup. But the Suns' opponents only average 15.8 assists a night. That's a disparity of 11.3 assists a game. That's wicked-crazy. The second-closest team, also Detroit, only has a disparity of 4.9 assists. The Spurs led the league last year with a 4.7 disparity, with Sacramento second at 2.9. Phoenix was 4th with 2.3. From 2.3 to 11.3, wow. Tonight they had 33 assists, with Portland only registering 12. Nutty. To me, at least.
i read that article and found that point to be very interesting. you had me tracking the assists of tonights game quite closely. good article btw.
yea the damn suns sure look good . nash has that ability to make everyone stars or decent players.. look at Q Rich on the knicks now. he sucks!!! i believe he is averaging 7-8 pts with 3-4 rebs.. big difference from his 17-20ppg on Phoenix.. i sure wish we had a nash on our team what sucks is everyone was saying Suns were screwed with Stoudamire out.. yet they are winning.. we were suppose to be the 2nd best team in the west yet we suck MAJORLY SO FAR.. ahh oh well . just hope we make the play offs
Thanks mate. Hopefully it makes of up for that piece of crap I wrote on the Clippers a few weeks back.
I think Nash has vindicated himself. So many people said that he didn't deserve the MVP, and that he wasn't even the MVP on his team. Now those people are eating crow. Amare is out and Nash is averaging double digit in assists.
Everybody that thought Shaq should have been MVP last season can send their apology notes to Phoenix Suns c/o Steve Nash 201 E. Jefferson Street Phoenix, Arizona, 85004
No doubt! I mean the Suns win by 45!?!? Ridiculous! I know Portland is bad but 45? Without Amare? Amare is a fabulous player but is is painfully obvious that Nash runs that team. And the Diaw/James Jones/Eddie House troika that is filling in for the departed Johnson/Richardson are doing a FINE job right now, talk about pennies on the dollar! Diaw in particular is interesting. He found the right coach for him in D'Antoni.
We talk a lot about the players' chemistry, but you bring up a good point here about coach to player chemistry. Without raising an issue in the wrong thread - many are frustrated with what we see with the Rockets. It would be interesting to know more about how D'Antoni thinks first about selecting players and building a core, and then second when he has them how he coaches them and utilizes them. Because he is doing something right. Pop in San Antonio has obviously adapted some by adding Parker and Ginobili and trusting them to "create" while keeping Duncan inside to play a more traditional game. Also, Nash has grown, developed and honed his skills to a sharpness that he did not have when he started out. Cuban must shake his head when he is alone and admits to himself what he did when he let Nash get away.
It just goes to show you how good of a player Steve Nash is. Stoudemire is a beast, and will be a good player in this league. However, he's more of a strong finisher than a low post monster...similar to Karl Malone and Shawn Kemp. Put a good point guard next to him and he excels.
