This is the first time I have ever heard of a mascot getting ejected. Wonder if Clutch would ever get ejected. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=250316024 SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Tim Duncan scored 25 points and Robert Horry added 18, his highest total in two seasons in San Antonio, as the Spurs beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 89-73 Wednesday night. The Spurs, playing a fourth straight game without swingman Manu Ginobili, made 12 of their first 15 shots to quickly open a double-digit lead they maintained for most of the game. San Antonio shot 70 percent in the first quarter and 35 percent after that, but the Timberwolves managed only 39 percent for the game. The Spurs made half of their 14 3-pointers and committed only eight turnovers, compared to 20 turnovers for Minnesota. Tony Parker and Brent Barry each had 11 points for San Antonio, which led by as many as 19 points in the second half. Duncan finished with 14 rebounds. Latrell Sprewell scored 21 points for Minnesota, 17 of them in the second half, and Wally Szczerbiak had 20. Kevin Garnett finished with 12 points on 5-for-15 shooting to go with 11 rebounds. The loss dropped the Timberwolves to 33-33 this season and 8-7 under coach Kevin McHale. The Spurs made 14 of their 20 shots in the first quarter. Duncan made four of his five attempts and gathered in seven rebounds for San Antonio, whose advantage grew to 16 points in the quarter's final minute on Horry's first 3-pointer. Minnesota trimmed the Spurs' lead to 38-33 with 5:08 left in the second on a 15-foot corner jumper by Szczerbiak. But Horry came back with his third 3-pointer on the next possession, and Duncan followed with a pair of free throws and a layup to restore the lead to 45-33 as San Antonio ended the half with a 13-6 run. Game notes San Antonio is 2-2 since Ginobili strained his groin March 8 vs. New Jersey. ... After 66 games last season, the Timberwolves were 46-20. ... Horry's previous high as a member of the Spurs was 14, which he reached twice last season. ... Garnett, shooting about 50 percent this season, has gone 9-for-31 (29 percent) in the two games against the Spurs. ... Referee Jess Kersey angrily ejected The Coyote, San Antonio's mascot, in the third quarter for being on the court during play.
I saw this play on Sportscenter and Beno Udrih of the Spurs got a hard foul by Wally (I think) on a layup and the "Coyote" got pissed and had to be restrained. It was actually kind of funny and don't think it was an act.
I don't think it's worth another thread, and I haven't found anyone else comment on it, but did anyone catch the scuffle between Dirk and KG the other day? You could see Dirk mouthing F. U. to KG. Seems all this losing is getting to a very testy KG. And Duncan outplayed him in todays' game, ESPN highlighting KG's frustrated face on the bench at the end of the game. Kinda feel sorry for him.
KG is one of the guys in the league who I dont question how much heart he puts into the game every night This guy goes out and plays his heart out and does everything in his power to win. All he wants to do is win and it must be real hard on him to see his team perform this way, especially after last season.
I heard a strong rumor once that Clutch the Bear makes six figures. I'm sure a big chunk of that comes from all of his appearance fees. I'm also guessing he has to pay for all of his props, costumes and everything else he needs out of his own pocket. But I'm not sure.
This kind of stuff is really getting old. If you don't like millionaires, don't pay attention to professional sports.
Especially if his team requires him to sucker punch one of his own teammates in order to get the win. KG will do it. He's that selfless.
its not that people dont like millionaires, hell we all want to be one, but no one is gonna feel sorry for KG just cause he is losing. nobody wants to hear a rich guy complain about how his life sucks. By the way KG sure cries alot. him and Yao are two guys u dont have to question about their heart
I thought it was an act in the beginning, then ESPN guy said he was tossed. It's really funny, he threw up his arms and had to be restrained by a ball boy.
I don't recall ever hearing KG complaining about how much his life sucks. Musta missed that interview.
