Am i mistaken in believing that the "insiders" on this board have been active in each of the last few drafts as far as posting?

They called the EG trade, they were speaking while the Ming thing was going on...

Now they don't speak... I'm bored.

First off, in last year's draft we had two first round picks including the top pick and the year before we had three first round picks. This year we have one second round pick. What exactly do you expect the insiders to say about that? Of course we could be looking to move up and we could be looking to trade, but that'll be at the whim of another front office -- not ours. A #44's not a huge commodity.

Second, how do you know we still have insiders? There's a great possibility the guys who've posted here were tied to Rudy in some way. If so, they're out of the loop now.

    Bruce Wayne,

I don't know who they were tied to - I'm merely pointing out that their activity during past drafts has often foretold trades, etc. There is no such activity & it annoys me.

The fact that they are silent may very well indicate what you are suggesting is possible - being tied to Rudy. Then CC.net has no more insiders - that also sucks.

I'm bored - I have this growing fear that JVG will give this team a 1 year run through in his system - w/ no real changes to the roster - to see how they do.

That scares me & I wish for change.

JVG will be change enough, even if we stick with this roster which is unlikely. If there's a deal worth making, it will be made. Les isn't the type to stand pat. In fact, there's more to be concerned about with a deal being made just for the sake of change when the coaching change may have been change enough. I think there's a great chance of something happening tonight though, and I'll be watching with baited breath.

Or could it be possible that

A.) We've had a coach for all of 2 weeks, and he wants more time to analyze what he has.
B.) With no first round pick, we don't have much reason to closely look at high/mid first round players.
C.) The Rockets like the talent they have, and don't have much reason to trade.

This is Les' "greatest team assembled", no? Or once we traded Thomas for Posey, it dropped a below the '86 Rockets?

Giving JVG time should only scare you if yuu don't think he can help out the guards, and you think Griffin will never improve. Given JVG's rep, I'd give him at least a training camp to see what he can do.

Very well said, totally agree. Why trade and change for the sake of trading, when no change maybe needed.

My sources tell me we're going after Lebron James or Carmelo Anthony with the 44th pick!

Maybe there will be potential new insiders tied to the JVG regime. However, they will probably be scared away from posting due to facing certain flaming for having no "rep".

I had a feeling that not too many earth-shaking trades would be announced last night.

A potential 3-way between Seattle, Miami and Washington confirmed this. Washington's new coach wanted to evaluate Kwame Brown, not ship him out to Seattle.

There are a lot of new coaches/GM's/etc in the league, and some teams are kind of lame-duck status (Atlanta).

I don't think you can trade players until after July 1st, I would expect more news then.

Pops has been MIA since we selected Yao Ming last year. Doc has been MIA since Rudy got canned.

Personally, I think HP might of been right that Doc's contacts might of lost their job with Rudys.

Hell, maybe Doc used to be on the Rockets payroll!

Some of you guys are pretty funny. RocketBurrito is bored, and thinks it sucks he's not hearing that the Rockets are acquiring Jermaine O'Neal on draft night. He wants to be "not bored". He wants info.

Had you gotten "info" that would have made you "not bored", you'd be pissed as hell right now because nothing happened.

When someone has something that they can post, they will post it. Coming off looking like a whiny b**** will not make any insider divulge something they weren't going to in the first place.

So what? You think that if we had gotten "info," such as that a trade for X was about to come down, you think we'd be "pissed now b/c nothing was announced." Okay, and your point is what? This is a Rockets fans BBS! At least Rockets fans would have some tiny bit of potential news to go over. Some of us cannot stand to think that we'll have to see the team in its present form for yet another season - it breeds impatience.

As for the "insiders," one has been gone for a long time, and another hasn't posted anything since his premature leak that Rudy was getting canned. The speculation surrounding them & why they no longer post is an interesting matter in & of itself.

Finally, as for coming across as a "whiny b****" (lmao at this one), Clutch - you run a board FULL of so-called "whiny b****es!" Half the posts on cc.net, on any given day, are either whining or b****ing about something. Whether it's the b****ing about Taco Bell's burrito bowls, or whining about Cuttino not passing - it's full of this this stuff.

It's a BBS, thats what people do! They come here to muse, whine, b****, prognosticate, etc. in a community w/ a shared interest. It's why this is probably one of the very best all-around BBS's on the net in my opinion. Let the whiny b****ing flourish!

Whining about Cuttino's "Jack" syndrome and how the BBS hasn't heard from its "insiders" are different things.

First, the insiders haven't exactly been completely gone. Did Doc Rocket not nail the Rockets next coach before Rudy was even fired (err, stepped down).

Second, the entire NBA seems to be in a hold mode. There was not a single player involved in a draft day trade, and the only lotto pick that changed hands was the very last one. All deals involved simply picks and uh, we only had one. It's very unfortunate that mid 2nd rounders don't allow you to move into round 1 these days.

Here's about as juicy as last night's potential trade rumors got- The Rockets were eyeing to buy the Detroit 2nd rounder (#58) to draft Hollis Price, but Les would only put up 300K instead of the 350K Detroit wanted. Les is such a stingy owner.

The Rockets made no movement. CD said in the paper he got "no calls" about moving up. We're in a hold mode until JVG decides what he wants- that's been clear. There have been numerous quotes that have indicated that roster decisions for next year won't be made until JVG knows what he has, and he's barely been given enough time to figure that out. Does the drafting of a 19 year old foreigner, who in all probability is not in the Rockets plans for next season not agree with that thinking?
Finally, go check the front page. There's been an article up the last couple days. Go read it a few times, and Clutch gives information from a couple of insiders.

oeilpere has posted since Yao was drafted, go look in the feedback forum, hottoddie asked on his whereabouts and I found them. He comes and goes. DocRocket comes and goes as well. Always has.

Would you really stop whining if Doc Rocket dropped by and said the Rockets plan on maintaining their roster? Doubt it. Enjoy the offseason, wait for the summer leagues so we can see Boki drop 20 a game in true Langhi style, maybe see Badiane have a great game or two and fire up the "Trade Eddie!" threads.

Until then, go play with the realGM trade checker, and figure out how many different ways Kevin Garnett can be traded to the Rockets.
