One important point to mention regarding Ward is the fact that he had been with New York throughout his career. As such, he has had more national spotlight which has in turn made him out to be more of a player than he actually is. I think people really get carried away with associating team Names with the players. If you look at what Ward has achieved as a player, the answer is nilch. He has always been mediocore. so, in short, I think it would make more sense to hold out for more of a big fish rather than using up all of the cap space. On a side note, I'm sure that JVG is really pushing for this one. Obviously he is probably thinking that by including Ward on his team he will have a player who respects him which could in turn change the players view of JVG
Look, I was against the rush to War, but now that we're there, now that we're trying to rebuild Iraq, I say we do the job right. I say we stick it out, help them out, and leave as soon as their self-determined government is nice and stable.
so, in short, I think it would make more sense to hold out for more of a big fish rather than using up all of the cap space. We don't have any cap space at all...we're over the cap. They would sign ward using their $1.5M veteran exception, so you don't need to worry about using up cap space. We're capped out for the next several years.
I think people are reacting to the intensity that pro-Ward posters have pushing for Ward. What some anti-Ward posters are missing is that no one's looking for Ward to win ballgames for us. He's not going to start. He's not going to command 30+ minuts. He's going to be the backup PG. We don't need an all-star out of our backup PG. Mediocre with certain skill sets is just fine. But it's a moot point anyway.
