Yao ming is making Les some major $$$, Yao's putting the asses in the seats, selling Jerseys, and when the new arena gets completed, even more asses will be in the seats. Everyone wants a piece of Yao Ming Mania whether or not the current personnel/coaching problems ever get fixed. There may be some player changes, but until there are a few thousand empty seats at the home games on a consistent basis, Les is never going to do anything about the current coaching situation. And you know damn well Rockets games are going to be all sold out next year, especially if Yao improves his numbers (which he will). It's well known Rudy is close friends with Rox management, and Rudy hand-picked and is close friends with his coaching staff. Since Rudy is becoming an Institution in Rockets lore, we'll have to bear with the worthless baggage he carries around in his staff. It's really a no-win situation: THE COACHING STAFF IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE I wish I could say having Rudy overshadows the ineptitude of his staff, but after this season, (and the past 3) I'm not too sure if he is the best coach for the job. He's a good man and a good coach, but I think his better days are over and it's time to bring in some new blood. Rudy brought us 2 championships in 10 seasons, but the last 4 (including this one) have gotten us nowhere...but that is an entirely different thread altogether.
Do you think Rudy wants to lose? of course not, When Ming and Francis get better and Mobley is booted in the ass out the door Rockets will contend for a championship.
What I am saying is that fans will always sell out the new arena no matter how badly the team plays because of Yao, and as a result, we'll never see any major changes to the coaching staff unless Rudy wants to retire. I don't see Rudy wanting to retire on his own volition since he smells championship in a few years now that he has Ming.
how many times has the cc been sold out this year? I doubt it will change much unless the Rox become serious contenders. It's Houston.
