You are right should and do are two different things, but Denver is a good team. They have one of the more dominating low post players in McDyess an explosive point guard in Nick Van Excel that can score and a center that can hit the boards play in the low post or step out and nail the three in LaFrentz. Denver should have been playing this well all along. Denver has a more balanced team than we do...at least until our front court gets healthy. Please do not call Mo a dominanting low post player. He is not in the same class as Antonio McDyess and is not a good rebounder. If I was a Denver fan I would have pointed at the Rockets game that the Nuggets should have won. NO team that starts McDyess and LaFrentz should loose to a team that has no front court presence. ------------------ [This message has been edited by crash5179 (edited January 26, 2001).]
Not to be pessimistic, but REALISTICALLY, I cant see the Rockets making the playoffs, much less even coming close to 49 wins, which would mean we only lose ten more games the rest of the season. Im looking for a good bounceof the balls come lottery time. ------------------
Exqueeze me, but... Any team that has both McDyess and Nick the Quick is a playoff contender... An early exit, of course, but a playoff berth still. Jeez, why don't these guys consider Houston? McDyess and van Exel live here - why can't we persuade these guys to play here? McDyess in pinstripes. Tell me you wouldn't like that? ------------------
Damn skippy, playoffs here we come!!!!! Optimistic as almost always! ------------------ visit www.swirve.com, coming January 20th, the top 10 films of 2000! http://www.geocities.com/clutch34_2000 for great Rocket insight by some of your fellow BBS posters!
The point is that the schedule is so easy, the Rockets really should only lose 10 more games. The Rockets' biggest problem for as long as I can remember has always been beating teams they SHOULD beat. During the lockout, the Rockets blew a 15 point 4th quarter lead to the Jazz, lost to the 9-41 clips, lost to Dallas twice and lost to Phoenix twice. This was a veteran team. Those 6 games should have given the Rockets a 37-13 record and tied for first place, instead they dropped to the fifth spot and lost in 4. Already the Rockets have lost to the Clippers, Celtics, Warriors, and the Nuggets at home (when they were still playing badly). If the Rockets miss the playoffs by 4 games, those "easy wins" will be the reason. The Rockets MUST take it to the inferior teams (the east), and beat the west's crap. That is the only way they will even have a hope. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
crash - BTW, you're right about the schedule. Damm, it almost looks like clear sailing.....Rox should end the second half well above .500... But we still need to bury Denver. ------------------
I dont know if it all starts tonight or not - just know it will be Rockets - 106 Vancouver - 91 ------------------ "Jop tvai mat!" - Arvydas Sabonis after Steve Francis sat on his head after a dunk
I aggree with you Crash. I had that same primonition on my way home today. I was thinking this is the game the Rockets turn it around and start a run. I think Phoenix will be the tame we catch. Denver will go away, but I think Minnesota might hang on. I feel we can easily pass Denver and Phoenix in the next month. Then we can shoot for Minnesota and the rest of our division. Can you feel it people? It is going to happen. You just gotta believe. Lets give the Rockets our positive carma. If we start playing from now on we can catch almost all of our division, we are only 7 games out. This is all wishful thinking but you gotta believe. Here we go tonight. We will be 1-0 when our new season starts tonight. ------------------
If the Rockets lose tonight, you can just ban me admins You don't want to see what my posts will be like if the Rockets blow it! ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
did you guys always think this or are you just being nice to denver cuz we beat you? this sudden surge of respect towards my team is confusing... ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
Change your signature Nugzfan, the Nuggets have proven they are a playoff quality team. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
Mo and Dream are both looking good on the offensive end tonight and Dream has even thrown in some steals. Even Carlos, came in and contributed. This is just the type of front court play we need on the offensive end to go with Cat, Steve and Shandon. Now if we can just get Dream or Mo to grab some boards! ------------------
Man! My prediction was only one basket off! ------------------ "Jop tvai mat!" - Arvydas Sabonis after Steve Francis sat on his head after a dunk
Agree with me, disagree with me I don't care. Tonight the Rockets will begin to make the turn and mount a serious charge for the playoffs. The Rockets will sweep the remaining games in January and win 10 games if not 11 in February. They will also win 10 or 11 in March. Check out the schedule yourself. The next two months are full of games that we should win! Not games that we should be competitive, games we should win. Even with our depleted front court. ------------------
Alas, "should" and "do" are two completely different things. The Rockets SHOULD have beaten Denver. I think you are optimistic. Even so, add 3 wins the rest of January, ten in February, eleven in March, and 5-4 in April. That's 49 wins, or .598 ball. Currently, Minnesota is at 0.591 (in the final playoff slot), and Phoenix is at 0.600 (at number 7). ------------------
Hopefully you're right. I'd like to see the team start winning some games, rather than just taking good teams down to the wire. ------------------
zrb; i kinda forgot about that. any suggestions? ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
