He is not J.J.Redick,not Rudy Gay,not Tyron Thomas. In my opinon,he is Shieldon Williams. The Rox can pick him if they want. He is estimated in the late of 1st round pick. But if you watched Duke's last game. You will find that J.J.Redick is exactly overrated. He is dominant in the paint. When Yao is not on the court,he can do something in the paint better than JH or SS. Select Him!
I guess you missed the Georgetown game where he looked like he was lost against a big, tall, physical team he couldn't dominate with his strength. More of that to come for him in the NBA.
just draft someone who can hit open shots, doesnt matter what there name is wether its redick, gay, williams, aldridge or splitter whatever just draft someone who can punnish those double teams dammit
I don't mind Williams, but there are about a dozen guys that I would pick over him. He'll be a solid role player (Antonio Davis type), nothing more nothing less.
I suppose I should withold judgement on Sheldon Williams until he takes his physical tests, gets measured and works out, but from watching him, I'm not particularly enamored with him. He doesn't help out with the Rockets' problem of defending athletic power forwards: it seems like he and Yao would want to play very similarly on the defensive end, anchoring the paint, and conceding the jumpshot. Sheldon would also probably rival Stromile for fouls/minute; he plays extremely physical, and though he gets respect at Duke, he'll have some trouble with NBA officiating as a young bigman. On offense I actually think Sheldon would fare pretty well; his penchant for hanging around the basket would work very well with Yao, who's been very good at finding men open under the basket (Chuck Hayes is also excellent at interior passing in traffic). The 18 footers that Juwan and Stro hoist up might be gone, but honestly, most of the time I'm cringing when they take one of those anyway, even as I know it's got a good chance of going in (same way with Tracy's "heat check" 3s). I'm a big fan of Joakim Noah, and though I'm positive that if he comes out the Rockets have no shot at him, that's the kind of forward I'd envision putting next to Yao; someone who's quick, and who's strength deficiencies can be masked by Yao. I've always disagreed with putting an "enforcer" next to Yao; he needs a front court mate that will guard the more athletic bigs in the league, much as Tracy should have a swingman partner that will let him rest on defense. (Brandon Roy?)
cmon...leave the newbie alone, u kno who he's talking about...Tyrus Thomas (LSU) and Sheldon Williams (Duke)
Williams has been known to be very inconsistent and that is the reason why his stock has fallen lately. Hes been able to dominate some games and suddenly disappear the next. I dont think we should use a lottery pick for such a guy....
The Rockets should go after J-Mac. I heard he was skipping college and going straight to the pros. He can actually make some 3s.
I am against using lottery pick on Duke players in general. These guys either suck or are injury prone. Once in a while you get a very good player like Brand but still you can argue that he is not worth the #1 pick. It's not Brand, but Alien that made the Clippers a good team this year.
