.... take that! I don't post much in the GARM-- being an out-of-towner and unable to see many games, but I'm dismayed out the lack of respect for everything Rockets I read here. This team has a good nucleus (Lowry, Scola, Martin) Good bench support (CLee, Budinger, Dragic, Patterson, JHill) a huge load of unknowns still with potential (Thabeet, TWill, JFlynn, MMorris, Blakeley, D-Mo, Parsons, and Cousins) We had a monstrous run of misfortune with T-Mac and Yao both imploding simultaneously. OUr record as of late is due more to the loss of T-Mac and Yao suddenly. Do this to any other franchise and they'd be middling as well. Other franchises are not going to give away the store to make your Rocket dreams come true. We may have to settle for something less at the 5 than either of the Gasols. Morey is a hard-worker and a clever GM. Not everything can or will work out and he has no control over some factors (injuries and Stern for example). Personally I didn't like the proposed Pau Gasol trade but methinks it was only a first move... don't know what else he had imagined. Sorry but I just don't think this franchise is as sad as most of you seem to....
Nobody under the rim. Going to look like a high-school team out there with 7 footers dunking on us. Need the twin towers (Gasol-Nene).
I don't think the franchise is sad. I think we're still middle of the pack. As built now, we'd probably be looking at the 11th or 12th pick. I want a top 5.
Thank you. There are a few of us here who like this team as well. We are just drowned out by the haters. I t really sucked to lose Chuck though.
We have enough size and shot-blockers out there now. They just have to step it up for the team. Wouldn't hurt to add another center though. Dallie?
Hear hear GIDDY !!! This team was on fire after the trade deadline last year. Something like a 22-7 finish, if they can get off the ground running like that this year, they can make some noise in the playoffs particularly if some of the youngsters get better. DD
Team as is is fine, Would not be surprised if they made the playoffs but may face big problems once in the playoff but if we get a favorable match up we may win a round.
He's actually pretty good. He's a very underrated defender and a solid post player. We need defense and someone to clog the lane..
One star for a great positive thread about the Rockets, wow..and some people call themselves Rockets FANS.....whatever... DD
The team works well as it is. Add an All Star caliber player to his core and you can make noise in the playoffs.
I'd be fine with him, but that would just reinforce the idea that we are going to be stuck in "limbo" (like I like to call it) for another season. I like the boldness about what Morey tried to do, its either go big or go home. He's been patient for 2 seasons trying to collect assets in order to trade for a superstar, now we'll just have to see if they are going to be patient a little more or if this will be the trigger to make Les realize that we might need to get a player through the draft. None of the less, got to respect Morey's hustle. Most active GM I know of... in any sports.
Must have been thinking of the Morris twins... I suggested this and it is lost in one of the mega-threads... if/when Memphis signs Gasol it has been suggested that they must get rid of one of their other big contracts (Conley, Randolph or Gay)... Would it be possible for us to acquire Gay? What would it take? Would it be worth it? Is Dalambert/Gay better than Marc Gasol? Of course an unmatched Gasol offers costs us no players whereas acquiring Gay would. Anyone get a realistic scenario for acquiring Gay that would be acceptable to them?
yeah, i think we went 5-5 our last 10 games. I think eight wins would have clinched they playoffs. There were some heartbreaking collapses in late games thaat cost us the playoffs. Off the top of my head, Utah, Chicago, and Portland was the worst.
