What's your attitude about the regular season right now as we push to the playoffs? Your choices are: 1. (Following every regular season game to the finish closely and praising them for victory and criticizing them for losing) 2. (Could care less about the regular season games, waiting for the playoff games to start praising them for victory and criticizing them in defeat)
I'm glad you brought this up. I really want to hear someone from the "forget the regular season, it's all about the playoffs" camp. Because I can't for the life of me understand this attitude...hmmmm, unless they don't even watch regular season games. If fact they must watch basketball the way I watch football...Superbowl all the way baby! Seriously, someone, a fan I'm hoping, tell me how you can blow off the regular season games. And do you really consider yourself a fan of the Rockets...part time fan maybe?
The Regular season games are important, because we will have situations where it will build character. I would rather have a lot of nail-biters instead of a lot of blowouts. There's a reason why the Celtics are the team to beat in the East not the Cavs. Celtics have much more character and they have gone through the same situations. Rockets surely have to win a lot of games, but If I had any choice what so ever. I would take advancing out of the 1st round over a great regular season record.
We are still in the process of building team chemistry with our units. I don't think Adelman has his rotations set yet and both AB and Lowry need time to adjust to their new roles. So I would have to say that EVERY game matters and that we can't just look toward the playoffs. The only teams that I think can do that are the spurs and perhaps Boston, but everyone else needs to be fine tuning.
for the record, yes, I am following the regular season games closely, but my attitude is, I'll save my true praise and/or true displeasure about the Rockets as soon as the buzzer sounds to end game 1 of the 2009 NBA Playoffs for the Houston Rockets. as much regular season fun the Rockets have had in recent seasons, I wish they could carry that success come playoff time so that my passion for the Rockets can really show itself and really get this city alive for this team once again! it's not too much to ask for this Rockets current team to just win a playoff round so that we can get that stupid stat of "no playoff series wins since 1997" off this city and teams back so that these Rockets of today can write a brand new playoff chapter in Houston Rockets history!
Agree for the most part. I think I'm just selfish. I value the 6 months of regular play. I want them to win every single game during the regular season. I want to be high when they win and down win they loose. Remember how cool it was during the big streak last year. Would you through that experience away for extra weeks of basketball? (rhetorical) For me, hell no. The regular season is the delicious CAKE. The playoff is just the icing on an already great cake.
That's an excellent reference. As long as we have a good amount of wins and we build a lot of character I will be happy. Remember that seeding does not always determine who will win the championship. From what I recall in the 1995 playoffs, We (The Houston Rockets) were in 6th seed. But we took the Jazz, the Suns, the Spurs and then we won the championship against the Magic. As long as we have enough by the postseason, I will be happy, and the only thing I want then is a healthy Yao Ming.
I'm only paying attention to the standings. The only thing I'm looking out for is seeing if we can play someone other than Utah. Even in the last few seasons, we could've gotten out of the 1st round if we played a different team than the Jazz.
every year when the trade deadline comes around, it's usually the most fun part of the season for all the suspense. and every time the rockets make a playoff push, it is the most exciting part of the year. and that is right now. i may miss a game or 2 due to business, but i usually plan for my vacations after the season is done (until june that is) so i don't have to miss games.
Looks like many fans here are focused on the regular season right now but also good to hear from fans who feel like the post-season will tell us all about this squad as well! One thing is for sure, the Rockets will always be our focus on this board, no matter what time of year it is
