The Rockets newfound interest in Rashard Lewis is amusing.

According to the front page, the Rockets are back on the Rashard Lewis bandwagon. Why would this be? Sure, he's an obvious talent.

Keep in mind that the Rockets cannot purchase Lewis' services outright. He would have to come to Houston in a sign & trade deal. Also, C Dawson said that any conversations with Seattle were a waste of time two weeks ago.

The Raptors are a co-suitor of Rashard Lewis' services. Not by coincidence, they also solicit the services of one Cuttino Mobley.

The Rockets have the ability to fit two needs at once by this mere request:

Rockets: Rashard, threaten to sign with the Raptors if they Sonics do not trade you to Houston.

    Rashard: OK.

Now, what has happened here? Two things. The Rockets have created a chance in which Rashard Lewis may be traded to Houston. Hand in hand with that is the threat that Rashard will take up the Raptors' FA slot. If the Raptors believe that Rashard may sign with them, they will not commit to Cuttino Mobley.

    Pretty amusing.

    You would rather have Croshere?!

I would take Rashard over croshere any day of the week.

Why can't we have both, especially if Cat goes to Toronto.

    Croshere over Lewis? That´s nuts. You ever heard of somethin called U P S I D E?

Croshere is a very, very good role player who would fit in nicely with the Rockets.

Lewis on the other hand, has the potential to be one of the premiere SF´s of the league in a couple of years.

Its called fundamentals. You know boxing out, not turning the ball over, hard nosed D.
Rashard can run faster, jump higher, and make the highlights with his dunks, but it takes more than that to win in the NBA. Croshere knows how to win. Thats all I'm saying. I like Lewis and if we could get him great. But I feel Croshere is the more consistent player

I'd rather take a risk and go for a potential superstar like Lewis rather then go for a good role player at best in Croshere.

    Nice points.

    But what about match-ups?

wouldn´t you agree that lewis would matchup better with the easts SF´s like Pippen, Rice, Abdur-Rahim and so on than Croshere would match up with Webber, Garnett and Duncan?

    Just food for thought.

True Rashard matches up nicely with those guys, but, Croshere could more than hold his own IMHO.

Austin and Rashard should play one-on-one for the honor.

Rashard is way too fast for Austin, it just wouldn´t be fair.

My one problem my croshere seems to be just that:

not strong enough to handle the premiere PF´s and not fast enough to handle the SF´s.

That´s why i would take a combo of williams, outlaw or ben wallace with rashard lewis over a combo of croshere and lewis.

If Rashard develops ball handling abilities he can play four positions.

Unfortunately, none of this has to do with my original post. However, if Cuttino does leave, snagging Rashard would be a good pick up off of the rebound.

Did we somehow flip conferences? Is this the Bizzaro NBA?

No we did not my sarcastic friend. But seeing as the majority of our regular season games (which last time i checked were of some value as far as reaching the offseason is concerned) are going to be against west teams, i chose to use that as an analysis and not the conference factor.

Is that clear enough or shall i spell it to you?

Maybe the rules have changed and i´m not aware. Maybe each conference right now is awarded 4 spots in the playoffs as opposed to the way it is now...
