The Rockets need a go-to play or better a go-to player. It appears that Yao is tired and not able to deliver in the 4th. I think Francis has the ability but lacks the confidence in his teammates. Until Francis starts trusting his teammates he is not our best option. Every good team has a go-to play when the game is on the line, what is ours?........iso, Francis, Yao?

I think Yao will be the go-to players on our team. He draw the defenses to him and he can create shot for other teamates.. I think in the Pacer game, he was the go-to guy and he definitely deliver at that time. Francis was quote in the paper saying that he realize that he and Mobley couldn't hit their shot so Steve decide to throw it to Yao and let him carried us. By the way, Yao play the whole second half that night and still able to deliver in the 4th. May be Rudy should rest Yao earlier in the 3rd quarter and let him come back around the 9 or 10 minutes mark in the 4th. Both Steve and Yao can be the clutch players down the stretch. The go-to players should be the best player on your team. In that sense both Yao and Steve fit that mold. I think when Yao develop a shot that is unstoppable (hook shot?) then that would be the go to play in the future.

The problem isn't a go-to play or go-to player, it's what we do when that go-to play doesn't work. We become panicked and try to force to many things. Instead, what we need is a motion offense. One where if the first option isn't there you merely swing the ball and look for the next option.

Let me read between the lines here and sorry if I am wrong. You sound like not Yao. not Steve. What are you trying to say, Mobley? A big NO from me.

I have to agree with LAfadeaway. It's been the lack of offensive plan that resulted in the whole team not know what to do, and the guards just started the ISO.

In addition to this. Many times from what I see it seems that we are trying outside-in instead of inside-out in the offensive play. The outside shots are our first option as opposed to being the second.

I thought our go to play was give the ball to Steve who drives into traffic. A pick once in a while would be nice. Didn't a pick allow Steve to make the tying shot against Miami?

Our go-to players are Steve Francis and Yao Ming. Yao is only a rookie!
