Remember back on draft night when Mo said that Eddie and himself were perfect compliments of each other? I don't think Mo could've been more correct, assuming he fully recovers from this injury. All of the things we complained about, such as poor rebounding and no shot-blocking from Mo, we don't need from him anymore. Eddie rebounds and blocks shots well, so that leaves Mo to do what he does best...take his man off the dribble for a mid-range jumper or take it to the hole for a slam. I can't wait until he gets back, because with Eddie, Mo, and Cato playing well, we are getting great production from the frontcourt. The only sad thing about this, of course, is that it puts Kenny Thomas in the back seat. Hopefully KT will take it well and accept this role, unless he is dealt for a SF. There is no question now in my mind that Mo will start next year, now that we have seen what Eddie can do. I'd love to have KT coming off the bench with his toughness, but the truth is that there are some teams he could start on. What should the Rockets do? Trade KT, or keep him to come off the bench. I don't see any way that Mo can be benched.
With all the talk about Odom, I think Mo would be appreciated even more so as a better complement. The title of the thread made me brace for some news about MoTay's self-identity crisis.
There is no point in keeping KT. His numbers are the best they will ever be as a Rocket. Next year, he will be our 3rd PF, and will be lucky to get more than 20 mins a game.
Maurice was taken for granted a little bit last year, IMO. I really do agree with DH's assessment of Mo's quote, too. Eddie and him complement each other. I can just see it - the chemistry - on the court next year. If we land an athletic small-forward...watch out. Rocks are deep and in the playoffs.
Whoa! If we do draft an athletic SF (and I agree we need one that can shoot and penetrate as well as defend), I count only three spots for four players (Cato, Taylor, Griffin and Mr. Athletic Smallforward). Somebody has to sit -- who?
Miss Mo? Give me a freakin break. Thomas is putting up just as good if not better numbers. Taylor can get the f**k on. No rebounding 260lbs soft 4. As long as Eddie keeps maturing,Taylor will become bench fodder or temporary starter.
Taylor's a great 6 man. Energy, Scoring off the bench. It'll all shake out in tc next year. I'm looking forward to it! I like Mo T with Oscar and Moochie, or as a cutter/stop and pop with the starters. I like Griff better, of course, and I'm more interested in seeing his game develop. I hope Rudy tries to use him, and not just like a better Bob Horry.
