It's been two weeks since the Rockets last win against the Kings at home and the Rockets have only won 2 out of their last 9 games thanks to Jermaine O'Neal. In those two weeks we lost against the Suns, Lakers in OT, 2 close games against the Thunder, and a 29 point blowout against the Thunder. We went from possibly getting the 6th seed and possible facing the Nuggets to 8th seed in the final 5 minutes of the regular season. It's been tough these last couple of weeks, but I think we will be fine. We are giving the Thunder a fight in the playoffs, what more can you ask? A win would be nice. Do you think the Rockets will get one on Monday against the Thunder on national TV?
Rockets blew their chances with the loss to the Lakers. I haven't gotten upset in the playoffs thus far...but I did when they blew it against the Lakers. Westbrook or not, I still would've preferred our chances against the Spurs. I was telling people after game 1 that it's too bad the Rockets ended the season on a 6-game losing streak, and I got weird looks, but that's what's happening. What a sour, sour way to end an, in general, exciting season. What could have been. Still have confidence in Morey, but he's going to have to make some BIG moves to get this team competing for a top-4 seed (which is the next logical, realistic phase in the rebuilding process at this point). At least we, as Rockets fans, can have faith in knowing that, outside of Poppovich and Hollins, the coaching in the Western Conference is pretty abysmal.
Srsly? MAYBE Karl. But what have his teams ever done in the past decade? A bunch of first-round losses and under-performing in the conference finals vs. the Lakers. And Brooks? Really?? Yeah, it helps to have Durant and Westbrook on the floor. That guy got out-coached by Spoelstra last year (both are lucky to have the talent that they do). There's NO REASON for a team -- with Durant -- to blow a 26-point lead...unless the coaching stinks. Not saying McHale is great by any means, but Brooks is definitely overrated. Thunder aren't going to win a title with him. What's the worst coaching situation in the West in my opinion? Clippers. That team's got, arguably, the second-best talent in the West (maybe even the best with Westbrook out). But Del Negro's not the guy for the job. Talk about a team that loses its composure when it's losing...I tell ya, you put a coach like Woodson on the Clips and their a championship-caliber team.
Well... it depends and this is within the eye of the beholder but those coaches are solid except for Del Negro Brooks did grow with Durant and co... is a capable coach Del Negro is the only mediocre one among those names Nobody is abysmal... not even D'Antoni.. that poor guy happened to be one-sided
Okay, maybe abysmal was too harsh (yes, they are NBA coaches after all). But I'd still contend that the Western Conference coaches are a) not elite (other than Poppovich) and b) inferior to the talent on their roster (except for maybe Karl, Hollins, and Jackson who is about even, riding Curry for all he's worth). That last statement might be misconstrued; I guess we can just say that coaching, in general, is either overrated or lacking (in the WC...any of Rivers, Woodson, Thibodeau, and Vogel are better than any of the WC coaches not named Poppovich).
Unless Durant and Scott Brooks convince the rest of the team to throw it for their former teammate, I can't see us getting one at this point.
Big choke job. Time for the last 4 seasons of choke city to be clutch city next season, game 4 will be a loss.
