is it just me, or does anyone else get pissed off every time they try to read threads in the Rockets forum?

it just seems like the overall intelligence level is lower there than in the hangout.

a bunch of stupid trade rumors and stupid draft this guy movements and stupid blame Rudy threads.

the truth is that this season is a wash, and there won't be anything meaningful to talk about, Rocketwise, for another few months.

right now, the Rockets forum is like the seemy underbelly of sports talk radio: it's going to keep on going whether there's anything to talk about or not.

I'm just curious if anyone else has a similar reaction to the Rockets forum.

Yeah, I'd rather talk about much more thought-provoking topics, like how hot Kari Wuhrer is. ;)

Seriously, I know what you mean. It kinda sucks nowadays in that forum.

You know something...I was thinking about that myself.

It's funny but when I first started here, that was the only forum that I posted in. Granted, it took me awhile to figure everything out, but I noticed the same exact things, chievous, about the Rockets forum.

Of course, it is only getting worse with the terrible season we are having. There are a handful of posters that are exclusively or almost exclusively Rockets forum posters that are excellent like tacoma park legend and NIKEstrad, but for the most part, there is alot of garbage over there that I don't bother reading.

I still like to browse from time to time and even post in there, but it has fallen to #4, almost #5, in my favorite forums to read (this is before the hangout was somewhat split up).

My ranking of the forums that I like the best here are as follows:

    1) Hangout/Texans, Astros, etc.
    2) Fantasy Leagues
    3) NBA Dish
    4) Rockets
    5) Feedback

Feedback would be ahead of the Rockets forum if there were more threads in it.

One theory that I have is that your newer posters predominantly post there and from time to time, we get a glut of new people. And I'll be the first to admit that I was not (and some might still think this about me now) a good poster when I started here. Hopefully, I have shown some improvement and the Hangout has been a big reason why. Maybe if we give some of the newer guys some time to figure things out, that they will show improvement, too.

But you are right....it can be very depressing to read that forum at times.

then you'll love my new thread, Freak.

I guess I'd just rather read dirty, old men talking about libidinous young ladies than read 12-year-olds talking about what a sorry coach Rudy is.

I guess he doesn't coach the way emilio estevez did in The Mighty Ducks.

I didn't want to say anything, but I completely agree. I am just burned out of that forum, I barely post in there anymore, even after Rockets games.

By the way Kari Wuhrer IS hot! I'll never forgive her for screwing up "Sliders" but she's still hot! ;)

    I agree, Manny.

when I first started visiting cc.net, I would post in the Rockets forum. but I got pissed off too much, so I stopped for a few months.

the next time I came back, it was to the hangout, and I've been a "regular" ever since.

the hangout just seems to remain interesting, whereas the Rockets forum feels like, no matter how long I've been away from it, I keep coming back to the same 10 threads.

What is it with being a newbie and only posting in the game action forum. I was the same way. It was like "other forums? what other forums?" I think 9/11 is the main thing that brought me to the hangout and i'm in here way more than game action now. game action does get stupid reading the same threads and it seems like there are barely any threads after a game. oh well, i still like it 2nd best as I almost never go to the other forums outside of NBA Dish.

Man, I'm glad someone else posted this. Funny thing is, I haven't posted anything good or bad in there (just news) for weeks and I still get bashed for being a Rudy apologist!

What is frustrating for me, and I'm sure many veteran posters, is the inability to get a post in and have a logical discussion without an idiot ruining it. It's just amazing.

To be honest, anyone who has been paying attention probably has seen this going on for a while but the atrocity that is this season has only magnified it. Even oeilpere and Doc Rocket have abandonded us.

    Time for a revolt.

    word.

    Rockets fans with brains UNITE!

I don't mind passion. I just mind stupidity.

    and poor grammar.

but, it's like Jeff [and others have] said. . . this season just magnifies it all. there's just not much good to talk about.

I'm glad to find out I'm not the only one that's been feeling this way, though.

I actually saw another online bulletin board [this one was for the band Jimmy Eat World] where they have a separate forum for people new to the site.

it's like a "starter" forum. a forum with training wheels. it's like a place where people who haven't been around as long can get the same newbie, learning-the-ropes posts out of the way before they join the masses who came before them.

anyway, I haven't ventured much beyond the hangout. anyone else got a recommendation on one of these other cc.net forums worth checking out?

    That was sweet Chiev !

I gotta go w/ you guys, I'd much rather ramble pointlessly about the ladys (lovin' "chick of the day";) ) than participate in the idiot-athon to see who can rub the most salt in the season!

    i feel safer back here

I just don't find any threads that make me want to post very often. Its hard for me to judge a team that doesn't have a SF, the PF is hurt, and the franchise player has missed a bunch of games.

Plus I haven't seen many games. Its really dificult to make an educated comment with only a snapshot.

jeff. the main thing that has turned me away is getting bashed for saying anything at all critical about a players performance etc. and the getting bashed for saying hakeem showed no class in bashing the rockets etc..

The Rockets forum is dead! Long live the Rockets forum!

I come straight to the Hangout before venturing into the Rockets forum now. There's only so many "Da Rockts r Kool! I like Griffen/Trade KT, Langhi, tire-iron, & a pot roast for Shaq (TRADE ACCEPTED)!/Rudy is responsible for the Mideast violence!" threads a man can take before he dry heaves and slugs his computer monitor.

Caution! Controversial statement ahead! Is there any way to display a member's age by their moniker? With the possible exception of an Andrew Wiggins (from Ender's Game), I don't particularly want to listen to 10 year olds debating the merits of Kobe vs. Francis.

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood.

    Viva la resistance!
