I don't think they necessarily "stand" for anything. I would guess that the red (and the yellow in the old days) probably had something to do with the colors of the flames when rockets lift off ("oh the rockets red glare..." ) Other than that, I think that the organization just thought that the blue went better with (and would sell better) the red. Not many teams out there actually have colors that really symbolize anything (celtics, heat, suns,etc do kinda). Just a thought.... Michael
I think that the original San Diego Rockets were Green and Gold. When the team came to Houston, the official colors were (I believe) Rocket Red and Desert Gold. I miss them.
The red stands for fire, the white for intensity, and the blue for blue-collar hustle. Well, not really. But it sounds good.
