Yes, we won't make the playoff the way the team looks right now. Too many holes to fill. In the summer, we all hoped for any one of these materialize ... (1) E. Griffin grew to be a force - that won't happen; (2) Boki would fulfil his draft reputation - that won't happen; (3) Pike would be our outside shooter - that needs to be confirmed; (4) Our guards would play inside-outside game well - hehe, you can tell from these two pre-season games. Well, if we go this direction and be pessimistic, we are bound for another lottery.
Well I disgaree. EG has shown his willingness to mix it up down low and is posting up almost exclusively. His shot has not started falling consistently but it is still WWAAAAYYYY too early to predict that it never will. Lets see, he has hustled all over the floor , been a very able rebounder, and got some open looks. His shot hasn't falling but he has played very few in-game minutes. Far too little time to make an evaluation. He is doing what decent players do, when your shot is not falling you find other ways to help like hustling and rebounding. Before the ankle sprain, Pike seem to be hitting his shot and will fit very well with Yao . Well, I can't argue much here but they are learning a new system and have not played much this preseason.
You know...Ive been feeling pretty optimistic before each of the last several seasons...only to be dissappointed by seasons end. This year, I have this overwhelming feeling that the Rockets have little chance of making the playoffs even though they should by default. Perhaps the loss of faith is a good thing and they will prove me wrong?
