Wilcox would be amazing on this team. Swift is more suited for a fast break team, where his main offensive weapon would be a driving drunk. Wilcox is a big body who is great around the basket, much more suited for a half-court team. I have always seen him as a mini Ben Wallace without the shot blocking.
The same can be said for every big man on the And-1 team, who are generally not good enough to play in the NBA, so....
they might want one of our shooting guards since maggette should be out for a while...they have mobley at the 3 right now
You're kidding me right. Wilcox's production is just as low as Stro's. They're both inconsistent guys with "potential". Hell no, would I throw in a 1st rounder, especially considering that our 1st rounder could be pretty good this year.
You don't trade a first round pick for a guy that will be a FA this summer. Sorry, you cannot justify that to me in any way. Wilcox is a career 6 PPG, 4 RPG player. Do you mean to tell me, especially given the sorry state of our season, you would trade a potential lottery pick for that? Including Swift in the trade no less? Is Wilcox even a better player than Swift? They're actually pretty similar players. Both are roughly the same height and weight, only differences are Wilcox is stronger but needs to play close to the basket, unlike Swift. Both are athletic freaks. Both have extremely low basketball IQ. Both need to become more polished offensively. Tell me how this kind of trade makes us a better team.
Wilcox is not the answer. He and Swift are practically clones. I'd trade our two second round draft picks (JVG is not going to keep either of them anyway) for Chris Taft of Golden State. Golden State is deep in PFs and would like the extra draft picks to add grease for an Artest trade. Taft would fit into JVG's defensive and offensive scheme a lot better than Swift, and he's a bigger body with almost as much athleticism. Also, he can play with his back to the basket or facing it, plus he can shoot effectively with either hand.
I am so tired of trading for pedestrian players like Wilcox! Swift is pedestrian as they come, over-hyped athletic freak with a I.Q. score as low as he stat card each night. Just look at Wilcox’s numbers. I like your thinking but trust me, I live in Pittsburgh and know and have seen a lot of Taft, he's not ready to make an impact yet. He's very raw and undisciplined, kind of like Swift and Wilcox he's not a very intelligent player either. Many called him a less explosive version of Wilcox. However I would make the trade you suggested, he's going to be a good player in this league for years if he receives the right coaching.
Good idea. At least he is still young enough and it is only for a partial season if he can't produce. Getting rid of Stro would be a plus. The Rockets plan of having old guys, frequntly injured guys, fill in around Yao and Tracy till they, too, get old, is not going to cut it. Of course there is always rehabbing Yao for the rest of the year and Tracy could use a few months of rest and p/t for his back.
imma have to say wilcox is better suited for the running game as well. He's not clueless on how to move without the ball, but swift is a poor mans wilcox.
How many times have we thrown away a 1st rounder and get burned? We always end up with old timers to replace the would-be 1st rounders that we should of had. Keep it and trade off Stro and Wesley.
Why does this guy remind me of a bulkier Stromile Swift? Hmm... I don't think I was exactly ecstatic about getting Swift, and I believe I'm less enthusiastic about the prospects of getting this guy.
Sterling would want Swift's contract because...? Wilcox had a great game against us. He followed it up with back to back 0-0 games - 0 pts, 0 boards. In fact, over his last 3 games (29 minutes total), he's scored 0 points and grabbed 2 rebounds - total. Swift is playing like garbage for us to date- and at best, Wilcox is a marginally better rebounder. Given how bad on the boards Swift has been, that's not exactly a ringing endorsement. Giving up a first rounder for the guy is nuts.
