Thinking about why the Rockets are more focused on 2011 more than 2010, is that they will have a ton of cap space to sign some impact players. Yao comes off the books, and Battier as well. I think that they are using this year to see who they can build around for the future, and in the summer, they will try to acquire Chris Bosh to make a run next year, and be in good position to have a championship roster in 2011 if they don't resign Yao, or keep Yao and move pieces around. The 2011 Free Agency class isn't as loaded as 2010, but here is some of the players: Al Horford Kendrick Perkins Joakim Noah Mo Williams Delonte West Carmelo Anthony (ETO) Jr Smith Tayshaun Prince Shane Battier Zach Randolph David West Wilson Chandler Marc Gasol David West Jeff Green Kevin Durant (Though I'm sure he'll recieve an extension before that) Mickael Pietrus Thaddeus Young Leandro Barbosa Jason Richardson Greg Oden Spencer Hawes Tim Duncan Tony Parker Caron Butler Nene (ETO) Ronnie Price These are some of the restricted and unrestricted FA's
you shouldnt make declarative statements in your thread title just to post a bunch of speculation with no factual basis. just sayin'.
That's an interesting list, the only max players I see on there are Anthony and Durant, Duncan is too old to get max money. We might be able to get some steals if other teams prematurely shoot their wad in 2010 (pun intended!)
2005: We are in "win-now" mode. 2006: We are in "win-now" mode. 2007: We are in "win-now" mode. 2008: We are in "win-now" mode. 2009: We are in "win-now" mode....Arghhh... 2010: We are focused on 2011. That's the change we can believe in!
well damn, if ronnie price is available then by all means tank into the '11....which also happens to be yao's jersey number.....it's a sign!
This is why Morey won't take any deals that would go beyond 2011 if he wasn't getting an All Star talent that can lead a team
Let Yao go off the books, sign Marc Gasol and Kevin Durant(i know it's nearly impossible but maybe he will get bored of Oklahoma City) and we'll be the new centuries team if the apocalypse wont come on 2010. But it's too early to talk right know. Kevin Durant man, I wanna see this kid in Houston.
Trade T-mac to Utah for NY's first round draft pick and Boozer. Then, we will really be building for the future with a high lottery pick.
I'd rather trade for bosh n build arouind him n yao,and someway, Sign a 3rd piece 2 have the big 3 here in houston...maybe bosh, Yao and iggy?don't sound bad 2 me
bosh + yao isnt going to work. it's got to be one or the other. only 2 worth looking at on that list is noah and caron.
Caron Butler depends on how much he is asking. Durant if he's available should be the our first option
if you think they're going after bosh now/this summer then i think that means they're "focused"on 2010, not 2011. When Yao is a FA in '11 they have to look at the possibility or not re-signing him. That's pretty obvious. I don't think that's a "plan" or any new insight. It's part of the process of trying to make the team better, look at all the options.
Enough with the wait till next year mentality lets for once think about the now. Rockets can make some noise if the organization stops thinking about next year like everything is going to fall into place. Nothing is certain or guarantee to go as plan for the team. The organization should be in the now and get the players that will help the team now. Get what you can now, there is not a certainty to Yao coming back and being a force like he once was. I would like for the organization to get what it can to get the team far into the playoffs this season. Just my opinion.
I got bored and played the trade machine, and contract wise it would only take Cook & Dorsey, but no way would OKC do that, Morey's good, but is that good?
On the slim chance you are not being sarcastic...Why? On the likelihood that you are being sarcastic. Good job, you got me to bite...
Joakim Noah could be a good back up center coming off the bench to relieve Yao of some minutes played and offensive load on his shoulder. He's athletic and has long arms that could block shots inside the painted area. I'm not implying that David Andersen is not that good alongside Yao, but just imagine if we could have Andersen, Noah, Yao all on the roster, Andersen could play PF position and spread the floor, shooting 3s from the long distance, which would be great for our small guards as they could easily penetrate and create opportunities for our outside shooters.
