its sad... we havent even heard too much what the rockets plan to do for the draft. we have some really vague ideas, which are just annoying b/c it would be nice to have something more definitive.

anyways, who all have we been working out for the draft? all i/ve heard of is ike diogo. the kid great, but i just dont think he will be around once it comes down to the 24th pick. does anyone else know who all we have been keeping an eye on?

Relax, it's over in a week.

The latest is that CD went over to Europe to watch Roko Ukic play, a stick skinny PG who's tall and lanky and apparently should be the next Tony Parker. Other than that, I'm not sure who we've worked out.

roko is out of our range anyway. unless we are trying to move up to get him, i don't see why CD would make a trip like that. even then, if mike james is our backup is this kid going to be our starter? not under JVG.

there will definitely be some trades involving sura, wesley, maybe even james, and our pick (moving up).

    this is getting interesting.

The best the Rockets can do at #24 is have some prefered target players and evaluations of what it would take and what they would give up to trade up to take them. Then there will be a domino effect from every pick , a run on point guards?, whose dropping and why?, what value are the teams trading down getting etc. etc.

Trading up will be contigent on who is still on the board, what the needs of the team trading down are and what we might have to offer. It's way to complicated to even take a guess but you know the phones will be getting burned up next Tuesday.

cd checking out roko, jvg hinting at signing a vet pf, and stating the rox roster was overloaded at sf. if you consider sf and sg mostly interchangeable then pg looks like the likely position that the rox will draft for..

the problem with this would be that the guards in this year's draft look mostly like projects while the pf's seem more nba-ready overall and their depth extends to where the rox will be drafting.

these would be the guys rox might be able to or can pull with their pick:
    roko ukic
    monta ellis
    jarrett jack
    travis diener
    nate robinson

i hope they draft a pf.

he was talking about starting this past season with too many SF's. thats why they traded jj and boki, to balance the roster.

the PF position is the most important to fill. that's why JVG won't trust a rookie with such a role. signing or trading for a vet to play the 4 is almost a sure thing.

the PG position is where JVG is most picky. signing or trading for one here too is almost a sure thing.

my point is, the draft will not determine our offseason. we will take the best player left.
