Notice how the last couple of seasons, the Rockets are always up there with the top teams in the Nba. We were always a threat to any team, we played hard and win games. But it sucks that when the media have to talk about the Rockets, first thing that comes out of their mouth is Yao is hurt and what's going on with Tmac and so on. And after that, they usually change their subjects to Lakers or especially Cleveland....

It dissapoints me that last season when we won 22 in a row, we barely got the media attention but when Boston won 18 or cleveland won like 5 in a row, man they got as much attention as the presidential election. They will be like oh yea the Rockets got lucky with the 22 in a row but MAN did you see Cleveland with their 5 in a row winning streak? Don't say its because we're in Texas because the Spurs and even the Mavs gets more attention than we do.

I know having the media attention doesn't mean much but I mean its always nice to finally hear them talk about us more and even in a positive way besides hearing Cleveland, Boston, and LA. I mean we were the only team that push this year Lakers to the edge without Mcgrady and half of it without Yao. And what did they say about it? Oh the Lakers are not playing like themselves and they are having a off night. If it was CLeveland pushing LA to the edge in the playoffs like we did, you can imagine the media saying man Cleveland is the best and Lebron is great and so on.

Everytime the Rockets are doing something great, we don't get any regonition but instead, the other team gets criticized for playing horrible. Because I know damn well that we are the second best team in the league last season. If the Lakers somehow got eliminated from the playoffs last season...I know the Rockets will win the WCF and the finals and become Champs....even if that really did happen, I bet the media would even say the Rockets got really lucky and don't expect a repeat from this team.

The Rockets are always been underrated no matter what they did. Even the back to back championship they won in the mid 90s. They said the Knicks should have won and the Magic wasn't taking the Rockets seriously enough and also if Michael Jordan was in the league, we would never win it.

Hopefully one day we will be notice for once in the league. It just really bothers me that the other day, they were talking about the top best moments in the NBA in 2008 and they put the Rockets 22 win streak behind Boston 18 win streak. I mean wtf? We didn't even have Yao for half of it.

It's sad to say and see but we really haven't been a legit team for a long time. How long did it take us to make the playoffs? How long did it take us to just make the second round? It's been a long time since we've been up there with the competition of the truly elite teams. Too many what if's and not enough proving. When the Rockets make the finals and start truly proving we deserve the recognition then I am sure the media will give it to us. Until then... we are and will never get praise....

No, actually I've been a fan for over a decade. But over time I just get tired of not hearing my team being talked about on tv. I mean it would be nice to my ears if I get to see what everyone thinks of the Rockets besides the injuries.

Don't forget the whole "U ONLEE 1 DA CHAMPIONSHIP CUZ JORDEN RETYRED"

******* that pisses me off. I don't know about '94 but we damn sure would've wiped the floor with Chicago in '95.

Pretty much preaching to the choir here.

ESPN where Boston, New York and LA happen.

Over a decade is relatively new to a lot of these people. Some have been fans here since the 70's, others became fans when we drafted Hakeem and took out the Lakers only to lose to the Celtics in '86. Still more became fans because of the championship years. The point in all this is say that those of us who have followed the Rockets through thick and thin are familiar with this.

The Rockets aren't a royalty team in the NBA like Boston, LA, or even Detroit or Chicago. We're going to get the same media treatment as say, Orlando or Portland, slightly more than the Minnesotas or Memphises of the league. But that's the NBA for you. David Stern has stamped his big fat arse on the face of the league and all its operations. Things are just slightly too biased for the superstars, the celebrities, the big markets, and the showmanship rather than the actual strategy of the game. Extreme coincidences outnumber those in every other sport (except for college sports recruiting I guess which is another debate), and you don't need to scratch your head for long to put two and two together. It only serves to place those two championship years, the only major sports championships for the city of Houston, in an even more exalted light. So the next time a Clutchfan is losing their milk over Hakeem or anything at all peripherally related to those teams, take a deep breath and cut them some slack. We beat David Stern those years.

I mostly agree with your take....thing is its hard to get much respect from ESPN because there in it to make money and we just dont have a huge fan base outside of H-town compared the NBA Royalty as meantioned above. I started following in the 80's when Hakeem came aboard and people where truly shocked in 86. In the 90's it got better especially after we took care of the Knicks but I think Barkley coming here put us in the Media spotlight for a while but when dream and chuck retired it became a struggle again. Its gotten better with Yao but even he gets overlooked often just the way things are.

I don't expect things to change but I feel your pain. I always said Kobe and LeBron are David Stern's sons.

    Third coast baby!!!

Just wait til the west coast falls in the ocean and the east coast gets destroyed by a tsunami. Then they'll have to respect us.

You gotta remember, first of all, that Boston/LA get attention because they are Dynasty-ish. Cleveland gets it because they have the "Michael Jordan" of today, LeBron James. San Antonio may get it because of their recent championships, they're always a contender and a top team.

I don't need media attention. I don't like negative attention when it happens, but positive media attention will happen once we prove ourselves and we will. Don't flame me and say that I think we haven't proved ourselves yet, I do. I think last year with one/both of our stars not playing at times, we still took the Lakers to seven games and no one else did that, but it's not showy enough for the media.

Give it time, we will get a good team together, and we will win consistently and they won't have a choice but to cover us. Just like when Barkley had to admit we were alright and the guys on TNT didn't want to send us fishing. Give it time, they'll come around. If not, we'll just keep winning, anyways.

The Media goes with teams that are proven to win. The Rockets just got out of the first round for the first time in 10 years. You do the math pimp.

If you're a rockets fan, then that is what you put up with all the time. Us Rockets fans don't really pay attention to the media, but rather to prove them wrong and laugh about it. That is why every body went crazy when the Rockets almost beat the 'almight' Lakers. It because were underrated.
