a couple years ago, we were feeling like crap after we traded him for Brick2myLou and he went ape$h!t in Toronto dropping 30 every other game and essentially killing us in our game against the Raptors.. then he went to the Minny, cooled down a bit, and then we got him, and it wasn't the Mike James that we saw a year before, and Adelman had him sit on the bench for the majority of the games.. now, he's with N.O, playing a marginal role if any, averaging less than 2 points a game..

how could you guys explain this dramatic change? I know his year in Toronto was a contract year, but that doesn't explain how good he was and how much he sucks now.. he's still young, relatively injury-free, and everything should be fine for him, what went wrong?

His ego and his skill level were on opposite inclines and only met during that one season in Toronto.

Same reason why Francis is still rehabbing his fractured pelvis, they got paid.

I guess the last name James works well for the witness protection program. Jerome James was a stud in the playoffs for the sonics a few years ago in nearly knocking off the Spurs and got paid a cool 30 mil. The guy is nowhere to be found.

WTF! Did that scrub ever rise? I told ya so he's a scrub. No team wanted to keep him.

One of the mysteries of the game. That's why teams should be grateful for solid, consistent players, stars or not. Hayes is a good example. You know what you get and you get it every night.

It's a little strange how he fell off after that monster season -- I think the story is more than just a contract year.

Contract year or not, the dude was a consistent 3pt shooter and on an incline up to that year....
then his shot disappeared. I don't care how lazy he got after getting paid, for that itself doesn't explain how he just couldn't hit open 3pters anymore.

He got lazier and slower and the $ reason makes sense there. Same goes for passion...but hitting wide open 3's? It's not like he was intentionally bricking. His shooting skills just vanished.

I still remember the beginning of last season, the Lakers game in the 1st quarter when we could not get anything going, then Mike James came off the bench, hit some 3's and got us back into the game.

Other than that I don't remember him doing crap for our team except getting traded for BJax, and in turn, Tru Warier.

Mr. Flakosaurus is a huge head case. He played with a chip on his shoulder with the Raptors after getting traded for Rafer, plus his contract was expiring. That's why he had his one and only career year. It was a complete fluke for the flake.

Once he got the contract, it allowed him to return to his natural, nutty self, which is why he shot down early in his only season in Minny. The contract also took away his motivation to excel.

The guy was a complete ball hog. He had no sense of team offense. The guy was like Steve Francis back when Francis was with the Rockets the first time. All one on one and that's it. He rarely would give the ball up.

Steve was supposed to be rehabbing for the next 2 months, but he wanted to quicken his rehab so he could be back with the team...........

Who should Steve have passed to? Moochie?, Mo Tay?, Cato?, Kenny T? Get the point?

It is amazing Francis got us as far as he did with those HORRIBLE players. It is also amazing that he led our team in FREAKIN REBOUNDS, ASSISTS, and POINTS

What Steve could have done with a dominant Yao, a PF like Scola and a tough defender like Battier or Artest.....

Simple, logical answer: He is 33.

Did anyone really expect him to be the same player at 33 that he was at 28-29?
