Houston we have a problem. Another problem that is. Grizzlies got their 2nd round pick back and the money we gave them payed off. Grizzlies released him today making him a free agent. I am not a die hard Steve Francis fan like some on here but here me out.

Sign him for a couple of 10 day contracts. I believe 2 is that max you can do. so for him being here for 20 days is good and hopefully we can see if he still has it which I doubt. The main reason I say this is because of Rafer Alston :D . Every true Rockets fan knows that when someone is breathing down on Alston's neck he tends to play lights out. Steve did it and Brooks did it.

We can sign him and use him the way we are using Mutombo. For locker room presence and to be one hell of a cheerleader. The fans will love it and Yao will love it also. I know they say 3rd time is a charm but I wouldn't hold my breath on Steve returning to the courts. What a great career he had. Im glad I was able to see it.

    Thoughts????

Wow! The guy couldnt even stick with Memphis. Sad. Now where are all the people that were saying he would come back this year and contribute? :p

If you can't crack the rotation of the grizzlies, you're pretty much done.

    ees horrible idea.

he's not mutombo. He will talk about how he can still contribute and should be playing more, etc... distraction, vs. mutombo who is the opposite.

When the Rockets let him in a game the last time, he was so rusty and out of sinc. I don't see it happening unless they want to use him in practice.

Well they do have Mayo, Conley and Lowrey. Mix that with the lack of motivation/enthusiasm to play in Memphis and being homesick then it's no surprise that he didn't even crack the rotation.

I say we trade Luther for a late 1st or 2nd rounder and sign up Steve. I don't care if he just sits on the bench but with the pathetic performances Brooks has been puting up it'd be nice to have Francis come home.

I think he would be fine in a Mutombo role. He and Deke are good cheerleaders and good leader imo. They have a roster spot available, why not?

Stevie ain't going to be breathing down anybody's neck unless he's sitting behind them on the bench.

isn't there an NBA rule about playing for the team you were traded from within the same season?

Rafer may not shooting well, but he does run a decent offence for the current Rox team, and a good enough defender. Anyone better than Rafer right now is pretty much out of reach. Brooks shoots slightly better, need to improve his passing game, holes here and there for his defence, but overall he's a pretty good backup PG in the league.
Stevie should set his eyes upon CBA right now, if guys like B.Wells can't crack into NBA, SF3 is no better.

its been passed 30 days but I understand what your saying :D . Its sad how his career just ended the way it did. I guess everyone is not Grant Hill or Antonio McDysse. Or even Alonzo Mourning.

Stevie is done in the NBA. CBA should be his next destination.

I was a big Francis guy coming into this season (especially concerning our PG position), but he's finished. No reason to waste our time even for a 10 day contract.

Well, now I know. There are two things that spring eternal: hope and Steve Francis.

I would let him rehab for the rest of the season, then take a look at him during the summer. No hurt in doing that.
