I've notice all our wing players take off down court to play defense against a potential break as soon as the ball comes off the rim. Yes, this makes us a better defensive team because we give very few fast break points , but it also limits our possessions and scoring opportunities because we don't get any second chance points.

Yeah..Kenny Smith at halftime was saying how we were going to end up with only 80 possessions..and theo ther team had 80 too..and less possessions..allowing the opponent to keep it close.

I think we just need one more guy who can play...FINISH who can FINISH..rebound shoot play defense Shawn Marion please come to Houston!

We don't get easy buckets, even when we can.

I usually don't agree with TV analyst. But Kenny is right, you can keep games close with less posessions.

My point is that regardless of the number of possesions we have, we get less scoring opportunities in comparison to our opponents because we don't go after offensive rebounds. Compound that with the fact we don't get easy buckets from fastbreaks, and we are climbing uphill the whole way.

Actually, I think all teams do this. That's why there are very few 'run and gun' type teams anymore. That's also why scoring is down as well as fast break points. These days, coaches are more concerned with stopping the fast break than getting offensive rebounds. Rebounding itself has become a lost art. No more boxing out, it's just whoever happens to be standing where the ball lands.

    Kind of sad really.

Most teams send their point guard and maybe their shooting guard back, but we send everybody running including our power fowards sometimes. It seems like we almost give up on the play as soon as someone shoots the ball, especially Yao. You never see any of our players follow their shots.

If you watch Orlando, you will see almost their whole team crashing the boards, especially Francis. He even hit a game winner that way, I think.

The fact that we're an awful rebounding team may be due to the fact that we are populated with lousy boardmen.

Yao - remains vastly disappoiniting in this area; just doesn't seem to have the "quickleaping" ability to be anything better than average

    MoT - I won't even start

JJ- not bad for a 6-5 guy, but his overall production is among the low end of SFs

McGrady - probably the best on the team, which is scary.

Ward/Lue - Mediocre at best, and replacing the best rebounding PG in the game.

This looked like a problem area coming in, and it is one.
