Andre Johnson Eric Winston Demeco Ryans Only 3 out of 22 starters played on elite college teams at their time in school my .02
http://www.nfl.com/teams/houstontexans/roster?team=HOU there are more than three players who have gone to "elite" college football programs
Demeco Ryans played for a pretty bad Alabama team during his tenure there IIRC Winston possibly also.. but he got out of there before the bottom fell out
Wow. Thats just unbelievably stupid logic. Can you tell me where Tony Romo, Marion Barber and Terrell Owens went to school? its like you and your buddy ryanwagner get together daily to figure out who can give the most idiotic take on NFL Football.
and this whole time i thought it was because they werent good enough....now i learn it's where you go to school that helps you win in the NFL.
I can't remember which game...I think the Titans game, but there was a key drive when the opposition was trying to convert a big 3rd or 4th down when they were out of field goal range. Had we stopped them and come back and scored, there was a chance we could win. Anyway, they passed to their fullback out on the flats and Demeco totally blew the tackle. Guy kept running and scored the TD that put the game away. You can choke in big situations no matter what school you went to.
point is we have a bunch of talent but they don't know how to win as I look over this roster our starters come from programs that are just not "expected" to win every game or win their conf or win a national title
It's not fair to say that the Texans lose close games. Usually it's not even close. Maybe just changing the thread title from "the" reason to "a" reason would have provoked more debate. Using "the" demands something much more in depth and comprehensive maybe.
Even if this logic was reasonable, it's not like every other starter played on Division 2 teams that never played in or won any close games. Even the smaller school guys play close games in college, and some are even on winning programs at smaller schools. But, here's a few off the top of my head that went to bigger and fairly successful schools... Owen Daniels (Wisconsin) Duane Brown (Va Tech) Fred Bennett (South Carolina) Chris Myers (Miami) Steve Slaton (West Virginia) Ahman Green (Nebraska) Travis Johnson (Florida St) Guys like Mario, Schaub, and Okoye all went to second-tier schools, but I wouldn't call them terrible programs. Other than that, really the only starters I can think of that went to what I would call smaller schools or mediocre-to-bad programs are Pitts (SD St), Demps (SD St?), Brisiel (Ark St?), Greenwood (Syracuse) and I have no clue where Walter went. So, I guess what the original poster is suggesting is that we should only draft from championship caliber teams each year. Maybe this year we should scout exclusively at USC, OU, Florida, and Texas.
thats pretty good. the Detroit game could be quite a pillowfight with a lot of meaning for these two teams in a couple of weeks
heyyy another ridiculously stupid thread on the texans. what the hell. hey Steve McNair, one of the all-time great leaders by pretty much everyone's estimation. Alcorn State. HUGE elite program right? Just 1 example of 50 million I'm sure
Bingo. Throwing the ball with 17 points ahead? Not telling all the players "HOLD ON TO THE FREAKIN' BALL, DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID"...? Coaching. And, Sage, you're still my boy. I know you won't do that again.
Eastern Illinios, Minnesota and Tenn-Chattanooga. FYI, your lack of football knowlege is depressing. Being annoying doesn't make you football savy.
