We the Republican Tea Party pledge: -To lower taxes for the rich -To cut spending on all programs that help the poor and middle class -To end any program that helps you buy a house, a car, pay for college, save for retirement -To cut Social Security and Medicare -To repeal all those horrible Health Care Reform benefits such as no pre-existing condition exclusions; no lifetime caps; coverage for kids up to 26; and affordable coverage for everyone -To eliminate those "unconstitutional" unemployment benefits -To permanently freeze the minimum wage -To let corporate special interests and lobbyists set policy -To cancel aid and tax breaks for small business -To waste trillions on unnecessary defense spending -To let Wall Street run wild and reckless with the same sort of high-risk investment schemes that brought about the financial crisis of 2008 -To let corporations influence elections without any transparency whatsoever -To let right-wing religious extremists run the country -To ban gay marriage -To ban abortion -To mock scientific reasoning -To eliminate funding for environmental/clean air/climate control initiatives -To cut funding for sex-education programs -To deport all illegal aliens -To "take America back" to the days when blacks, Hispanics and Muslims were discriminated against and deprived of their basic civil rights and liberties -To fear-monger and further turn Americans against Islam -To return America to its isolationist days, and reduce America's standing in the world -To demonize and attack as "hating America" anyone who disagrees with us -To obstruct government and reject every single initiative of the Obama administration There's your choice America: this, or the Democrats.
Kick out illegals, no mosque building, make English the official language; sounds pretty isolationist to me. besides there is evidence Americans Are Becoming More Isolationist
Republicans trash the Promise to America TPM rounded up the top five most surprising reactions to the Republican agenda.
Except for the Tea Derps that complain about anti-business big government and how it won't stop outsourcing
I guess I can assume by the silence in the thread that everyone pretty much agrees with the OP. Even the tea partiers
Sort of a false dilemma you've presented, here, OP. If you think that both parties are full of ****, like I do, you could always vote outside of the Republicrat party. Just off the top of my head, you could choose to vote for members of the Green Party, the Working Families Party, the American Nazi Party, the Communist Party, the Libertarian Party, the Constitution Party, the Socialist Party, the Reform Party, etc., etc. -- that is, if Republicrats would end their legal monopoly on our flawed elections process. Frankly, OP, you seem to be just another ignoramus who can't turn off the bull**** propaganda they put on TV. Of course, you're welcome to prove me wrong. (I can be fallacious, too!)
deporting people who illegally enter the country and having english as the official langue is not isolationist in the very least.
Isolationist means not wanting to be involved in international affairs; such as having foreign wars, toppling regimes in other countries, negotiating with foreign powers, and oftentimes engaging in significant international trade. Republicans love doing all of these things (except, maybe, negotiating), so they aren't remotely isolationist. "Xenophobic" or "jingoist" might be better terms here.
My reply was to the OP, just for the record. I only quoted that other post because he had the right idea.
That someone could want the GOP in power after their record of failure, and their disdain for the middle class, is a statement of that person's incurious intellect and a bankrupt personal philosophy, and hell no... both political parties are not the same, thank goodness.
If you lower taxes for all, the rich get theirs lowered too. What a concept! We need to cut spending across the board. If we do not tighten the proverbial belt, then we will never come to grips with our ever increasing federal debt. I believe that our national debt is our greatest long term national security problem. Where in the Constitution does it provide that everybody should pay taxes so that others can buy things? Government action to increase home ownership is a large reason why we got into the mess we are in now. As for college, I paid for my education myself through law school. I had a craptacular car and a $200 TV for 6 years and some student loans, but I did it. A lot of people want it all. They want all of the creature comforts and the college tuition paid. Part of the problem with American culture today is the inability to sacrifice now in order to have more later. This is funny. A lot of people are touting "affordable coverage." Not so fast. Remember that nothing in the law keeps the insurance companies from jacking up the price of coverage to pay for the new restrictions. My insurance coverage has already had a significant premium increase. That increase happened two months after the law passed. Coincidence? Maybe...but I doubt it. To be fair, it is things like the minimum wage that have led to the rampant outsourcing of jobs to places like India. An increase in the minimum wage at this point, IMO, would exacerbate that problem. If you think this is solely a Republican problem, then you are delusional. This just in: Democrats like money too. I cannot argue with you here. Eisenhower is rolling over in his grave at what our country has done re the industrial military complex. Again...Wall Street would not have had all those crappy mortgages were it not for the Clinton and Bush signed bills requiring mortgage loans to those who really could not afford them and slashing the capitalization requirements for Fannie and Freddie. I am not saying that we should absolve Wall Street, but this situation should not have existed in the first place. To be fair, they are illegal aliens because they broke the law. I believe that immigration law needs to be reformed, but if you break the law, you deserve a little time in the penalty box. Point to specific proposals to discriminate on people (other than cutting back free money programs). If you cannot do this, then you are merely barfing up left wing blog posts that have no more credence or basis in truth than their right wing counterparts. Funny. If the Dems did the same thing, you'd ballyhoo what great Americans they are. It has little do with the right thing to do and everything to do with how you feel about who is in the White House. Hmmm...
