The Rafer trade is about locker room leadership too.

This trade is about clearing Rafer out of the locker room as much as it is about getting Aaron Brooks into the starting lineup.

Rafer is the last guy that was standing in the way of Yao becomming the full leader.

Rafer was the leader in the clubhouse, and I have been saying for years if you have Rafer as your leader, you are going nowhere fast.

So, it is officially Yao's team now, Brooks gets to start, and Yao takes over in the locker room.

Sometimes small things produce huge results.

    Whatever.

I can't believe you really think they traded Alston because he was preventing Yao from being the leader of the team.

But do you see Yao being vocal?
No offense to yao or anything, but you can barely understand the guy..

That is what I am saying... WE LOST OUR LEADER.

Lowry is not gonna carry us in the playoffs. Rafer would be a lot better, because damn he is VETERAN and he always steps up...

I don't think Yao is gonna carry this team...

The leader was T-Mac all along, not Rafer. Rafer only stepped in because Mac is done and Yao didn't want to step up.

Great, the two biggest leaders on the team are also the 2 guys no one can understand.

    Yao

    "What did he just say?"

    Deke

"What the hell Deke? What did you just say?"

Where there is Artest, there is no other leader.

He is the alpha male in any environment. If anybody tries to contest that, chemistry problems ensue.

The trade deadline is over. This is the team for the rest of the season.

The leaders were JVG and Juwan. We lost them 2 years ago.

DD has been talking about this for a while. Don't make assumptions.

I don't think Yao has leadership qualities but this isn't the first time DD brought it up.

That's an interesting way of looking at it. I'm not sure if Yao is up to the task of filling that role, but it sure would be nice!

But there's no question about it anymore. Yao is The Man. He's got shooters around him. Not a single player on this team can be questioned about his commitment or work ethic. There is potential for some really nice chemistry to build here.

A nice 10 game win streak would do the team a lot of good right now. After a big change, you want to get off to a good start.

this leader garbage is overrated, tim duncan was never the leader of the spurs.......even during the championships, everyone said it was malik rose's locker room.

and yao can scream at kyle lowry and aaron brooks all he wants, but it aint gonna work.

This is not good TMac is still here and if this guy plays in a Rockets uniform I will not support the Rockets next season if that is the case. As for Yao being a vocal leader I don't think it is in his nature to be one. Yao leads by example not a vocal leader.

    I disagree.

When Hakeem was here, Kenny Smith was the leader of our lockerroom.

You don't need your star player to be the lockerroom captain.

Rafer, for better or worse, was the lockerroom captain, and Yao, for better or worse, can never be that.

I have serious doubts Brooks can, either.
