it is open and ready to fill up...he is playing great. also, this board totally and completely overlooks when brooks plays poorly while it also overlooks when rafer plays well.

kudos to rafer on the last two games

I don't want to get slammed, but is it possible that he plays better without Tmac?

It seems he is much more aggressive and plays better overall when he is initiating the offense.

And his D has been great lately.

I tend to shudder at the sight of his mid range jumper. I'm more comfortable with him taking 3s, if you can believe that.

Rafer is not the only player that plays better without Tracy.....

But this thread is about him, and he is MUCH more aggressive with the ball, and it helps the team a lot.

He is finishing better, and passing better off the dribble....he just looks more comfortable.

When Tracy is playing it seems our PG is more of a smallish SG.....I prefer the attacking that is going on now.

brooks is a second year, late first round pick, bench player. if he has a bad game it's still forgivable.

rafer is a veteran starter. he is rightfully held to higher standards. he has played well for the past two games. however it doesn't happen nearly enough. maybe tmac being out does have something to do with how aggressive he is and how much he can control the ball and initiate the offense.

    doesn't matter

his been filling it up and deserves props.

No Rafer last couple of games and we'd be short a few wins

I don't like my point guards to be yo-yo's. We need them to be consistent. Rafer in the first half was brilliant. He didn't try doing too much and he didn't get caught up in the Billups match up. Second half was a different story.

Please Rafer and Aaron, you don't need to be superstars. Just give us your consistent best.

Come on, how many did he take maybe one/two. He had more layups than anything else. His D was excellent.

Tell me about it. Tracy "Ballstopper" McGrady is the primary reason for the lack of chemistry of the offense. What irks me the most is when he gets the ball with single coverage, instead of attacking right away, he too often takes the lazy way out and waits for the double-team so he can pass. Or he will take FOREVER to size up the defender and I can take a nap before he finally makes a move.

Regarding the OP, I've been off the Rafer bandwagon for years. A couple of good shooting games won't change that. A solid 2nd half of the season will. Let's hope he keeps it up a while with McGrady and Artest out because the Rockets need offense wherever they can get it.

Also, saying the forum overlooks AB when he plays bad is nonsense. Trying reading the games threads and other threads before you say this.

Rafer shoots 36% from the field this season, inexcusable even if he drops 30 on 60% shooting for the next 10 games.

'bout equal i would say. or maybe rafer has a slight edge. i think cp3 carries a lot of times.

but this is from a cp3-hater...

and somehow steve nash and ai come to mind when talking about dribbles.

Just a few games ago people were saying he was playing like the worst starting player in the NBA. Now this.

He's in between, he's not playing great right now but not as bad as the board make him out to be.

Rafer doesn't plays better without Tracy, Rafer plays better with a bigger role. Last year, by the 22-0 run he was playing very good, with McGrady, without Yao. More protagonism, more offensive importance, more confidence, thats the only question.

Some must remember who Tracy is: great IQ, outstanding passer, very unselfish player. All these makes your teammates better. (Van Gundy, Wesley, Ryan Bowen, 50 wins, all that stuff...)
