Tonight Alston came back, the coach rewarded him with the starting spot, and he rewarded us back by shooting the ball out of his mind. He forced some passes and caused some unnecessary TOs though. Statline for both Aaron and Rafer: Alston 30mins, 8-11 FG, 4-7 3PM, 4 assists, 3 TOs Brooks 21mins, 3-7 FG, 1-3 3PM, 3 assists, 0 TOs If it wasn't for Alston's shooting, I would say Brooks played the more efficient game by far. PG's primarily role is to create offense and hit open shots. Personally, I think they should both get even playing time right now (does not matter who starts) to see who is the better fit on the team.
Exactly what "question" are you talking about? Rafer is starting and AB is backing him up, simple as that. Could have put this in an existing thread.
Brooks has shown he can extrapolate his play to starter's minutes though. In fact he performs better the more minutes he gets. Surely the 3 games with AB starting should change how Adelman's distributes the minutes amongst his PGs.
Ive said this in other threads and Ill say it again in this one. Rafer shot well tonight and he scored alot of points. I still prefer Brooks because our offense looks better with Brooks running the show. Anyone have the +/- with those 2 tonight. I can't help but wonder how bad this game would of been if Rafer was shooting his normal percentages. I thouroughly believe that Brooks makes it easier for other players while Rafer does not.
Rafer Alston..... He's the better set up guy. He couldn't prove it tonight because of all the fouls of Yao Ming. Also, Aaron Brooks was the one who got completely torched by Mo Williams. Rafer it is.
I wanted to go there but I wasn't sure if you had to name the starter first or what but this is much better. BrAlston is the way to go.
Adelman has already said AB will be getting more floor time. It was good to see he followed up last night's game with an effective 10/4/3 effort tonight in 21 minutes. My hope is that AB will eventually earn enough cred for Adelman to make a move later in the season if Rafer goes in the tank again (which I guarantee you will happen).
Regardless of how many fans think Brooks should start, AB is better as a bench player because it means our second unit will blow teams away. It's all about having the best chance to win and we have arguable the strongest bench of all the NBA. Just because a player isn't a starter doesn't mean he sucks.
