Let me first state that I think these guys are good coaches. However there is a problem with their treating every regular season game like a playoff mentality. Its that they don't have an extra gear during playoff time. Their regular season record makes their teams seem better than they really are because they played all out while other teams took games off. In the playoffs, everyone plays hard, and these teams get exposed. Remember how Utah's and Dallas's shooting percentage got progressively better later in the series against the rockets. They figure us out and Gundy/Thibodeau don't have a bag of tricks to pull out of.
So instead you'd rather have a coach who doesn't inspire his team to work too hard during the regular season so they'd get a lower seed and won't surprise anyone when they lose in the playoffs?
sorry the bulls are in the Conference finals with a great reg record and home court? how is that a problem ?
So did Thib's defense get "figured out" when the Celts made the Finals twice (and won the championship once)? The Bulls' problem is talent on offense, not defensive scheming or playing too hard in the regular season.
Very true, the Knicks never elevated their game during the playoffs. Its not like Larry Johnson never had 4 point plays to send a game into overtime. Its not like they didn't literally fight for wins. They played that way all the time. Which explains why the Knicks went to the title game. From the 8th seed.
That does seem to be what he's arguing. I guess it makes a little sense from the fan perspective. Maybe he thinks it's better to spend the whole year knowing your team is mediocre than to have that reality come crashing down on you when they flame out in the first round of the playoffs yet again.
I don't see the problem with the thread. Either you disagree and think the Bulls are right where they should be, in which case they would be choking to lose as a #1 seed, or you think they played a little over their heads to get that #1 seed and are now crashing down to earth in this series against Miami.
For the record. . . . Doc Rivers *WAS* the coach. *****ting on him to give Thibs credit is getting old. Rocket River
Why is it a problem though? Having the #1 seed is a good thing, even if they played over their heads a little bit.
