I'd like to see how many of you consider yourself to be part of the Hakeem support club! You know who you are. You're the ones who agree with , the Freak, Dreamer, HayesStreet, Azim da Dream, and myself when it comes to Hakeem. In other words, you're the anti-Manny Ramirez. How many of you still support Hakeem the Dream Olajuwon?

I think everyone that likes the rockets still supports Hakeem. So just add all our names to the list and this topic is settled. Case Closed.

I am really happy for Hakeem - 20 rebounds recently and a double / double. The man can still play. I hope he gets a triple double against the Rockets and we win the game. When he left it freed up some cap money, and I still can't decide if we spent it wisely. We are now over the cap and have Glen Rice and Moochie playing inconsistently.

Put me down as a Hakeem Olajuwon fan!!!!

    LOL!!!

First thing I see when I get back is this. I don't know TBar and I do respect Hayes Street and Azim, but to be in an "inner circle" with you - ZRB, DREAMer, and TheFreak, I will gladly pass.

I think Francis3 said it best, but as usual when it comes to Hakeem..it goes in one ear and out the other. My monitor listens better to me than you-all do. Hell, Roy D. Elton, Bob Rainey, -StroShow-, Lionel Hutz, and Caveman all listen better about this than any of you (with the exceptions of Azim and Hayes).

Tell me ZRB, are you going to pine over Olajuwon 10 years from now?

God. No Rocket fan hates Hakeem. Hakeem wanted to leave, and everybody thought it was for the best. You don't see the "Anti-Hakeem" fans laughing every time he makes a bad play. The guy brought a lot to Houston, so I'm happy that he's doing well in Toronto. But don't you think you're taking this to far, making it seem like there's only 6 people who like Hakeem. Good luck to Hakeem, and I'm grateful for what he did for Houston but I'm a ROCKETS fan, so I'm not going to talk about Hakeem every day when he isn't an official member of the Rockets organization this season. Why drag out this whole "Pro-Hakeem/Anti-Hakeem" thing and show people up?

Okay, we have a pretty nice list forming. I'm now starting the anti-Hakeem list, since non Hakeem supporters decided to post in this thread.

RocksMillenium- All I want is for people to show Hakeem the respect he deserves, and wish him well.

    i'm in......

i'm happy for Hakeem & i'm happy for the rockets

Hakeem got his contract, respect & a chance to win another title. the rockets got continue rebuilding at the best time for a young base players and eventually some of these players will be traded for the missing parts we need.

put me in for Hakeem to get that triple double and for the rockets to win the game.....with all the losses we are aquiring lately, we will need the win:)

I don't judge a year on how New Year's Eve went...Hakeem has been the greatest thing to ever happen to the Rockets, period.

Okay, ZRB, the more I thought about this, the more that I felt that I had to say this:

In arguing in the past couple of months over Olajuwon leaving, I have only found a couple of people who would respect my opinion and give me an intelligent argument.

Hayes Street did that. TheFreak almost did that until he decided to show how cute he was. DREAMer has never done that. Azim has never really addressed it because I have never addressed him. But, you never even came close because you seem to like simple-minded posts and very negative posts in general.

I was willing to give you a chance when I first started here, but the more I read things by you, makes me realize that I'm wasting my time. It would be nice to have a respectable debate with you, but I'm sure that is asking too much. I have a feeling that you could do it if you really, really tried, but I guess it's too much hard work to try to look logical in arguing your viewpoint.

So, I will say this: no one unless it's someone on the Clutch crew is going to tell me that I can't post in a thread (which you tried to do in another Olajuwon thread in this forum). I have never told you that you couldn't post in a thread; I would expect the same from you. Also, since you like simple-minded posts and don't want to argue with me rationally then I'll say this:

    You are lame.

    You are stupid.

    You need help.

I am trying now not to get into calling people on this BBS names, but you have left me with no choice. Since you won't argue with me logically like Hayes Street, I don't know how else to communicate with you except to do it on your level.

Well, Manny you sure did tell me.

I feel so completely broken now. You gave me a chance, and I blew it.

Now Mr. 15 posts per day is telling me that I need help. Damn, I had better book some time with the therapist right away.

How is it that you can demand intelligent comments from me? You're entire argument for being against the Dream can be paraphrased in one sentence:

"Olajuwon screwed the Rockets over, and I'm sick of talking about it."

In every single Hakeem thread, you've stated that you are "sick of talking about it". It's bad enough that there is ZERO evidence to support your opinion that Hakeem tried to hurt the franchise, you also try to stop everyone else from talking about it.

Manny, if you can produce a quality post with intelligent reason supporting your opinion, then you'll get one in return.

However, I find it hard to believe that someone simple-minded enough to forget about 17 years of absolute brilliance because of one "incident", could produce an intelligent argument.

Go on Manny, let me see some logic!

Well, I have to say that I should have posted on your level a long time ago because you obviously have missed some great posts. You don't think that I have had quality posts on this subject? What about this one from the thread started by B, "Hakeem Had a Great Game?":
    Posted by Manny Ramirez
How many times are we going to go through this? Until the man retires? Look, I don't think anyone wishes ill will for Olajuwon in Toronto, but it takes two to tango and Olajuwon is definitely not a saint.

A couple of questions for the threesome:

    1) Didn't Olajuwon say he was going to retire after this past season? I know he changed his mind, but why do any of you never address how him changing his mind, after it seemed to me that he promised the Rockets he would retire, placed them in an awkward position. Do the three of you enjoy seeing Rockets Mgmt placed in awkward positions?

    2) Olajuwon has averaged around 58 games played the last 2 seasons. Yes, he had some brilliant moments last year, but too often he was out of shape, getting dunked on, and even getting his shot blocked by the rim ! It was very hard for me to watch such a great athlete like him struggle like that. Do the three of you enjoy seeing him struggle like that?

    3) You-all know very well that considering the money and length of years that he wanted, that the Rockets wouldn't be able to get anyone decent in free agency let alone re-sign their own key free agents. Let's say that the Rockets re-signed Hakeem to a similar deal that he had last time with them. That means that Moochie, Mo, and Glen Rice (Shandon Anderson) would not be with the Rockets. So, you might be saying well our starting line-up would still be good with Walt, KT, Olajuwon, Cat, and the Franchise. However, there's no depth and Cato and Collier won't get any better if the only time that they ever played was spelling Olajuwon. If and when Hakeem broke down, Cato and Collier would be unprepared just like last year to fill in. The result is another lottery year. Do the three of you enjoy seeing the Rockets be a perrenial lottery team like the Grizzlies and the Warriors?

BTW - I'm still waiting on an answer from you, TheFreak, and DREAMer on that one. Or how about the recent thread in this forum started by Dr of Dunk called "Hakeem goes Ape"? I won't bore you or anyone else with copying and pasting the post but here's the link:

    http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25197

There are several good arguments in that one mainly the second one with TheFreak (before he started acting like a jerk) and the ones with Hayes Street (who I will say again is the only one of "your club" who has argued with me rationally).

Plus, go back to when I first started here in August. Almost all my posts were in the Rockets forum and a lot of them talked about this situation. It's not hard to find, ZRB, just do a search for "Manny Ramirez" as user and go all the way back to my first 50 posts and you should see some of these that I'm talking about.

You are making fun of my post per day average??? LOL!! You are averaging more than most people here (not more than me...but more than the majority of other people). The difference between me and you is that for the most part I try to post something with some substenance or to back up a point/argument. You post stuff like this:

    The Rockets suck.
    The Rockets suck.
    The Rockets suck.
    The Rockets suck.
    The Rockets suck.
I love Hakeem. Anyone who bashes Hakeem is not a "true" Rocket fan.

You are what I like to call a "fluff" poster and you are not a good one at that. What's a "fluff" poster? It's one that either doesn't have the balls to explain their side or cannot logically argue their point.

Yes, I have made mistakes since being here and I have learned a lot. I will still probably repeat mistakes, but I do like to think that I have improved since I started. Reading old threads, I see improvement for you is to go from the Rockets suck really bad to the Rockets suck. One of the best threads that I've read was one that was pleading for people not to harass you! Remember that one, Tweak or is it Turn? That's right...you weren't any of those people..that was someone else..ummmmmmmm. For the record, I have been in chat and called myself something else just for the hell of it and because I thought it would be fun, but I would never lie to people if they asked me if I was really "Manny Ramirez".

I could go on and on, but the game is fixing to start. I'm sure that you (if you haven't already) are fixing to do a thread in the Rockets forum telling everyone how the Rockets season is over and how they suck. So, I will let you go and not keep you any longer.

This is the first part that bothers me. Disagree with us, fine. But don't keep asking "how long are we going to talk about this". No one is asking for your opinion, so don't try to stop us from expressing ours.

    1) Didn't Olajuwon say he was going to retire after this past season? The Rockets knew for the last few weeks of the season that Hakeem wanted to return. Plus, this seemed like a positive. The Rockets went from definitely losing a low post player, to having a chance to re-sign him. It was Hakeem's right to keep playing. Why should he have stopped playing just to make the Rockets' job easier? Management is paid big bucks to make tough decisions.

    2) Olajuwon has averaged around 58 games played the last 2 seasons. Of course I don't like seeing Dream miss dunks. But, you know what? I don't care. Everything else he provides makes up for that. Francis misses dunks and layups too.

Besides, as has been said many times by myself and others, 58 games of the Dream is better than 82 of Kelvin Cato.

Glen Rice is averaging 8 points. Walt would and IS doing his job just fine. Collier is crap anyway, and Kelvin will never get much better than 8 points and 6 boards. Hakeem wasn't holding them back.

Hakeem wanted to make more than Moochie Norris, for two years. There is nothing wrong with that. Hakeem would have helped this team to make the playoffs in the big western conference. He almost did it last year. The Rockets were at their best when Hakeem was playing. They missed the playoffs last year because of injuries to VARIOUS players, and losses to crappy teams (most of which ocurred when Dream was out).

BTW - I'm still waiting on an answer from you, TheFreak, and DREAMer on that one.

    There you go.

I'm still a big supporter of Hakeem. I want to see him play very well this season. Toronto actually became one of my favorite teams, of course still far behind houston, after they got him.
