In this thread, I'm hoping people will post things (from hometown anecdotes, to international stories, to general ideas or trends) they consider universally positive. In particular, I think it'd be swell to distance it from political opinions, if possible. If this is just too corny, then treat this as payback time for all the threads I've derailed. Here goes... 1) The CDC, in conjunction with various international efforts, has made great progress in isolating the virus causing the new severe pneumonia. SARS news 2) I literally saw someone pull their car over this morning, park, and help an elderly man in a walker cross a busy street. 3) I am hereby taking a BBS sabbatical effective to May 10, 2003. I've got to focus on some non-cyber friends and family right now, but I'll be back. So yeah, this is a positive. Everybody wins. Okay, please tack on positives as they occur to you...
Houston now boasts the lowest price for gasoline in the nation, at least until the next survey is taken: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/1834609
Noooo!!! B-Bob, don't go. I understand though. I've actually done a better job lately of doing the majority of my posting and stuff during times when RM95's Girl isn't around, and I've definitely put it out of my mind when I'm not on here. The addiction isn't necessarily any less powerful, I've just controlled it more. Of course, it doesn't appear to be that way because I've been posting at a rapid pace due to my extremely boring law firm job. Have fun with the friends and family and hurry back. My positive contribution is my three badass weekends coming up and the one that was last weekend. Last weekend is self-explanatory-March Madness. This weekend, RM95's Girl and I are packing up the Explorer and driving to Boone, N.C., to see Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, acoustic, with a stop in Vicksburg to gamble a bit. Not much better than a road trip with your girl to see your favorite singer, even if it's without the rest of the band. Next weekend, Major and I are heading over to the Big Easy to get drunk in the Freedom Quarter, win tons of money in blackjack, and to attend three games that some people have dubbed the Final Four. Dunno if anyone's heard of it or not, but I think it's a pretty big deal. Then the next is the Smeg tour stop. Enough said. Then a lull until the end of May, then a 5-day Astro/Casino road trip that'll take me to Tunica, MS, St. Louis, MO, and Chicago, IL where I'll win tons of money at blackjack and see the Astros at Busch and Wrigley. Badass. (There might be a Memorial Day weekend trip to Pensacola in there as well. Life is good.) Now, if MadMax doesn't post in this thread, I'll be upset.
Two atoms were walking down the street. One of them says, "I can't believe what just happened! I lost an electron!" The other atom says, "Are you sure?". The first atom says, "I'm positive!"
I'm going to start shooting my new movie soon, and I think we'll do a good job. So, I'm excited about that. Plus, I think we finally came up with a good campaign for that butt-ugly Toyota Matrix for that stupid National Student Advertising Competition. And thankfully, that will all be over with in the next couple of weeks. And I took a vacation to Galveston for Spring Break and had a very nice time. Went to Moody Gardens (which is someplace I would not have picked on my own, but my girlfriend wanted to go) and saw some neat things. Saw Reliant for the first time, and got some good rest and relaxation that can only come with getting out of town (even though I don't do much of anything in my regular life, it still takes getting out of town to relax sometimes). So that trip was very positive.
I'm positive that I will laugh a few times less per day with B-Bob on posting-vacation. I am positive that Stevie is figuring out how to lead us to the playoffs. I am positive that even though I am working my butt off now that I have 2 jobs, at least the new one is working in ITS (finally!) and I am positive that the troops will be home soon with a minimal loss of life...(crosses fingers) Take care Bob...come back soon..
Actually, I will need some extras for one scene. I may well put out the call when we get closer to that time.
I'm just a simple college kid who got some last night and just got done eating a pizza! Life is good.
I got a day off work tomorrow(I have a bad cough that has kept me from sleeping much the last 3 days) and I'll have the new Zelda game to keep me company. Also school is starting to wind down. No more papers to write for my grad. class and I'll be out for the summer soon.
i've actually been considering that...mentioned it to Refman on the phone the other day...you have my email address...use it if i disappear.

The migrating monarch butterfly population, which had been devastated by a late winter freeze in Mexico in Feb. 2002, is rebounding far better that anyone could have predicted: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20030313/sc_nm/environment_mexico_butterflies_dc_1 In the past few weeks, some of the monarchs passed through my yard on their way back north and laid eggs. I just checked this morning and I have quite a few baby catepillars happily munching away at the butterfly weed plants I put in my yard just for them. Nature is truly amazing!
No B-Bob until May 10th ??? I guess a positive is that he's coming back. It's hard enough to find humor around here... and now with no B-Bob'ster... (gotta think of a positive!) I'm starting a rumor that popeye, thacabbage, LHutz, Sherlock, NIKEstrad, CBFC, and a bunch of others who's names escape me at the moment, start to post again or at their previous frequency. That Clutch and the Crew (excepting Jeff, who already does) post more often just for the hell of it instead of doing it to control the current ClutchCity juggernaut. And that The Cat be released from Fantasy exile after making amends for whatever it was he did. (there may be some others that might fit this catagory, but he came to mind) That would all be positive.
