Has anyone seen this show on VH1, its freaking hilarious. Its about this guy named Mystery (Mater Pickup Artist) who will be teaching these 8 guys how to pick up chicks. I’ve never heard of this mystery guy, but he looks like a total douche. Just wondering what you all think of this show.

I only saw the intro, yeah the mystery guy and his 2 friends look like douches.

3 or 4 of the guys in there are virgins.

Guess what? Total Deuches are usually swimming in women. Being cocky=attractive to women. No 'mystery' there. Kudos to that guy for the clever nickname, though.

I don't think you have to be cocky so much as just being sure enough to talk to them without coming across as nervous. Nervous = stalker weirdo to women.

I'm not going to edit my post above............but I'll admit it was wrong of me to counter one broad generalization with another.

I caught some of this and I found myself wondering how someone with a douchebag nickname and a dorky wardrobe borrowed from The Road Warrior could be such a pimp daddy. I think it's all a setup - it'll turn out that it's a misogynist plot to "prove" that women prefer confident, outgoing douchebags to nice but shy guys (never mind that most of these guys should be looking for women in places other than bars).

that's always been the case. and just b/c a guy is outgoing and confident doesn't make him any more a douchbag than it makes the shy guy a nice one.

I agree. A shy douchebag or an outgoing douchebag is still a douchebag either way.

On a SLIGHTLY more serious note, there are guys around that teach these "fast seduction" techniques. Many of the "masters" have nicknames like our mystery man. It's been going on for sometime and is really all about picking up women in bars for a hit-it-and-quit-it relationship. Think Hitch for ho's or Wedding Crashers without the wedding.

Generally, I think this sort of thing is entirely unfulfilling and the entire crowd (men and women) shouldn't expect anything out of it but what they put into it, which isn't much more than deception. Frankly, I think if you are that shallow, you'd be better off just paying for it.

How much of a douche can he be? He's had countless interviews in magazines and on television, a Rolling Stone reporter wrote an entire book about him, and now he has his own TV show. Nothing like being almost famous to help get you laid.

Sure beats gigging in some lame local band that nobody's heard of... :p

when you're a 40 year old virgin, a hit it and quit it sounds good any time of day.

I noticed that when the 3 douches went into the bar to "show 'em how it's done", it was later in the evening after the dorks had tried. In other words, the girls were all more drunk than they were when the dorks all struck out. Granted, the dorks had no game whatsoever and the douches did, but still.

In the show's defense (I can't believe I'm defending this trainwreck of a show), I think the douches are trying more to instill confindence into the dorks so they'll carry it over to their own lives. I think it's more than just picking up drunk chicks in a bar.

My experience has been that people that live this lifestyle for any significant amount of time DO end up paying for it, in one form or another.
