If I could have my way, this year's draft would unfold as follows: #5,6, or 7 pick -- Rockets take Qyntel Woods if available, otherwise Caron Butler (walt, langhi very expendable) #15 pick -- Maybyner Hilario from Brazil (profile on nbadraft.net compared him to a young athletic Hakeem, good post game, great shot blocker and defensive rebounder -- leaves minutes for MoT and Kenny and Griff, makes Collier expendable) 2nd Rd pick -- Steve Logan (i see him as a Bobby Jackson/Tony Delk type) moochie and cato are then hopefully traded to get rid of salaries and because they both hurt this team, for a veteran inside presence (a Marc Jackson type -- but not necessarily him). in all honesty, i would trade them for nothing just to get them off the team, and use the exception to hopefully get a short term solution at center. This leaves the roster like this: PG -- Francis, Logan, Brown SG -- Mobley, Logan, Torres SF -- Rice, Woods/Butler, Griff, Torres PF -- MoT, KT, Griff, Hilario C -- Veteran post, Hilario, Griff this is in essence the same starting five as last year (which in my opinion is average in the west with an outside chance to make the playoffs if healthy), but with a very deep, young bench 4-5 deep that has incredible upside and the opportunity to provide and learn from meaningful minutes
Hilario and Qyntel woods would be great picks for the rockets, however i see hilario as too much of a project to take on. I would take Chris Marcus if available just because he's big. I don't see why people would even consider taking Moochie off our hands, we just made a huge blunder with his contract (what's new). As for cato, see moochie norris
