    Short and simple.

Bring Yao out to 18-20 ft. He's shown that he can hit that shot with regularity and it will open up the low post for Scola and Artest to work. I'd rather see Yao get his shots than have another 6 attempt night.

I agree. Hes not going to get double teamed 18 ft from the basket. Depending on our players in the game at the time, they could set screens and cut to the basket. Yao is a good enough passer where he would find them.

When Lowry is in, Yao can set a high pick and Lowry can throw it back to Yao for the open J or Lowry can take it into the paint where he has a good chance of getting to the line.... OR if he gets doubled in the paint, pass it to the corner for a Wafer, Battier, or Artest 3 pointer. We're beating a dead horse trying to Yao the ball in the paint, praying one of Portland's bigs will miss their defensive assignment.

He was 17/45 from about 15 ft. to the 3 pt. line in the regular season according to NBA.com's Hot Spots. That's about 38%.

What kind of basketball league are these guys playing in where it's best to play your 7'6" guy 18 feet away from the basket?

But very recently hes gotten hotter. I think this is a good strategy to employ as a counter.

Agree. Yao needs to be practicing his mid-range big time.

too much panic going on. the rockets handled the fronting well in game 2. penetration from the 4 and 5 positions was killing the blazers and they made 50% of their shots. so how did the rockets lose? blazers shot 51.4 %. rockets missed 10 free throws. it is very hard to win if you allow your opponent to make more 50% in a game.

My point is that we shouldn't need to rely on Yao to hit a lot of those shots. I don't have a problem with him taking those shots when they're wide open, but those aren't the shots we should be looking to get in the offense.

I'd rather see Yao stay under basket with two guys on him, createing 18 foot jumpers for Scola, Artest etc than Yao shooting it consistently.

The key is other Rox players need to be patient, get Yao the ball while he's breiefly open or shoot while Yao's iin position to rebound.

Haha so your telling me we should do it. Because nobody outside Artest shot over 38% from the 3pt line. If we allow are guys to keep jacking up 3's and a 30% clip then let Yao shoot that 15 - 18 ft jumper. Yes I hate it but we have no answer for the fronting problem.

Basically Portland's fronting tactic will work then (if you reduce Yao to a spot shooter) without us even trying. We concede defeat.

Agreed. Issue was not our offense. Issue was our defense. Blazers just lit it up.

i think the rox win this series in 5 games. it's not this series that concerns me. i'm not in the camp of setting getting out of the first round as the ultimate goal.

Here's my plan to attack fronting: Dribble to the freethrow line then clang the ball off the backboard so that Yao can box out, catch the pass and dunk!

Huh? It's better to hit 30% from three than it is to hit 38% from two.

No ****. I'll go out on a limb here and say Roy won't have another unconscious shooting night like he did tonight this series. He's good, but he's not Kobe good.

I bet that's what Portland would rather have Yao do. Heck I would too.

That's true but the rest of them have gained confidence from this win.Portland still faces problems but they are deeper than us. We have to come with a game plan to counter them.

The best way to beat any defense is the constant movement without the ball.

To win in playoffs, Yao needs to work harder. I hope he understand that and move a little bit more.
