lol The wife and I caught the second half of it last night and one of the first things sha said was, "That is a skinny woman with a some big ol' hips and booty." I just said, "Really? I wasn't paying attention." We only saw the last two choirs but we enjoyed them both, especially Patty LaBelle's.
I dvr'd it last night... sadly Houston was eliminated tonight. Patti LaBelle's team did really well. And I liked the rendition of "Friends in Low Places" that Nick's team did. (I know from a friend that's one of his favorite "bar" songs )
Of course Patti Labelle's teams going to win. It's freakin Patti Labelle. You think Dirks Bentley knows anything about REAL choirs. HAHAHAHAH Give me a break!
I don't know, man. They're from Oklahoma. That state was settled by gay singing cowboys. They might be pretty good.
I think Patti and Nick are actually the two with the best groups. Not that I am a biased Cincinnatian or anything. I did my part and voted. Typically I wouldn't watch this because it's really just "writer strike filler" and "reality tv" to boot. But two things hooked me. 1. Hometown team. "Cin - cin - nati", as the crowd was shouting, has dealt with crappy football, crappy basketball, crappy baseball, by god we need at least something from our town to be good. and 2. It's all for charity. None of those participating get anything other than the trip to New York. My sister had heart surgery at 6 mos old at the Children's hospital that Nick's team is "playing" for, so I hope that he wins because they need as much help as they can get.
Wow, now that Houston's eliminated, me too. I'm a gospel fan so I won't pretend the show doesn't interest me. The country dude in likeable and pretty funny. Patti's soloists are really awesome.
Thanks AB! If anyone is interested in voting here's the link... http://www.nbc.com/Clash_of_the_Choirs/vote/register.shtml I called in 10 times before the 2 hour window was up and you can vote 10 times online I believe.
I had vague interest, simply because Houston was included, but Rowland was, by far and away, the least recognizable "star" hosting a city, so I'm not surprised.
See, I think this is where it's going... I think we all know who is going to win this thing without causing a riot... stereotype city with this show... seriously, though, with a funny spin: when have you seen a choir full of Whites or Mexicans that can outSING a choir full of blacks ? You can use this for your material, Another
I was pretty disappointed last night, because I have a really close friend who was in that choir. She got a free trip to NY, and that's great. But had they won last night, she'd be singing a solo part tonight on national television...I was really hoping she'd get that chance.
Oh that's a huge bummer! I honestly thought that Blake whatever his name is would be the one taken out after the first night. I didn't have a clue who he was, and his team did alright but it wasn't a show stopper. I think they probably got the "support the troops" vote and that's why they survived. I thought Kelly's team was better than both Michael Bolton's and Blake Whoever's. Tonight (hopefully) will be Bolton's night to go. Then Blake.. I want it to be Philly and Cincy at the finals.
