This seems to be our core rotation players as we get deeper in the season and possibly the playoffs:

    starters:
    Rafer, TMac, Battier, Scola, Yao

    bench:
    Luther, Bonzi, Brooks, Landry

    situational players:
    Hayes, Novak

    DNP: whoever I didn't mention

I really want to keep the core intact and just see how far they will go but the other half of me thinks we're going to have match up issues with the other playoff teams, like Dallas or Utah, and now the Lakers. I'm waiting on how the Suns will play with Shaq, but now Yao doesn't have to chase around smaller players.

I'd list the other playoff contenders' rotation players but that's too much work.

    It's "Official" as it gets.

My next thread will be "The Official Who's Team is This" Thread.

or "The Official Depth Perception" Thread.

    Haha, 5 stars for you!

I think we may have one strength in the playoffs compared to other teams, chemistry.

Unless there is a deal we can not turn down, we should let it ride with our guys.........

Wow, mighty different from what we expected at the start of the season. But, I really don't think this core is strong enough to go up against the elite of the West. Outside of Yao, we have a tiny front court as well as back court.

Good enough to make the playoffs, get out of the first round, second round, win the West, win it all?

I think they are good enough to get in the playoffs (I didn't think that a few weeks ago.) But barely.

They might be good enough to go to the second round depending who they are matched up with.

Frankly, I don't have much confidence that this group will get us out of the first round. They fade too easily under pressure.

Winning the West or a Championship is out of the question with the present
group, they are way too soft, and undersized. They don't have the offensive firepower to really put teams away. Not that athletic as a group. Anything is possible, but not likely.

this core defintely doesn't have what it takes to go deep in the playoffs. even though they've played well, we're relying on two rookies as key rotation players, brooks and landry. we're still not going to beat dallas, san antonio, phoenix, new orleans, utah, or the lakers in a 7 game series.

If Shaq can stay healthy and play at the level that he played against us earlier this season, then Yao will have trouble defending Shaq just by himself. If we start to double team Shaq, then those Phoenix shooters will have a feast on us. So, let's hope Shaq does not play well, at least in this season.

Sorry I lied, didn't make that thread.

Another team I forgot is the Hornets, but that's because CP and West kicks our tails everytime.

But the Rockets have routinely gotten balanced scoring in the winning streak. It has not been every starter before, but with Monday's game, the Rockets have had five players score in double figures in five of their past six games.

This is getting routine. It also makes the Rockets a better, more consistent team, not as dependent on Yao and Tracy McGrady to carry the scoring. But beyond that, when players get touches, they are more involved mentally. They are sharper and happier, and more likely to make the key play or big shot late.

We need another scorer that will show up night up and night out.
Artest seems to be the only option now.

We aren't getting Artest when Denver is offering Nene and NY is offering Zach Randolph.

Not to mention Phoenix that is offering Atlanta's number 1 draft pick because they own it and a TE.

    Good enough for what?

To be a highly competitive entertaining team? Yes

To get to the second round? Probably if not this year next

    To be a contender? No

If we can get out of the 1st round I really feel we can go all the way even. The key to getting out of the first round is SC.

We need to make a trade to be an elite team in the west and compete with the other teams in our conference because everybody is upgrading and we've been needing to do the same. Get it done morey
