Who gives a sh*t? The 3-pt shootout is done in 15 minutes, and nobody cares who wins.

Most of the contestants seem to be pretty random. They have Damon Jones in there, and he's way down the list on percentage and numbers made. Decisions are probably based mostly on marketing, though I have no idea what makes Damon Jones marketable.

 

No, Kapono deserves the spot. Damon Jones should not be in the contest.

 

I think people who are shooting below 40 percent should not be in that contest ie arenas. Jacking up shots doesn't make you a good shooter.

 

They should expand the field to more than 6 players. Too many worthy guys benn left out.

 

I think they want have 3 from each conferences:

West: Terry, Dirk, Miller
East: Arenas, Kapono. Jones

 

actually not true....dude, arenas is money......the reason why his percentage is low is because his quality of shot is low due to tough defense on him, unlike kapono who is shooting only open jumpers

 

Agreed. Damon Jones is the one guy who may not deserve to be in it. But honestly, as much as we all love Head, who outside of Houston gives a damn about Luther Head? Nobody. These events are to entertain the fans.

dirk's numbers suck this year from the 3pt line. but he is the defending champ.

i think they should look at player's ranks in 3P% and 3PM. take the top 6 players with the highest combined ranking in both catagories. for example, if luther is ranked 5th in 3PM and 7th in 3P% then his combined ranking is a 12.

for comparison:

steve nash is second in 3P% and 4th in 3PM. a total score of 6.
kopono is ranked first in % and 16th in 3PM. a total score of 17.
damon jones is ranked 44th in % and 16th in 3PM. a total score of 60.
arenas is 86 in % and 2nd in 3PM. a total of 88.

you can see how some of these guys really do deserve to be there and some really, really don't.

 

And they're not all that entertaining. I think the 3-point contest is the most boring of them all.

 

Damon has NO business there.....that's just NBA marketing. (I don't know why because all he does is make an ass out himself) and Jason Terry is a ?? too

Its funny you guys posted this b/c I called into 610 yesterday at 4:00 and said the exact same thing. I thought Terry shouldnt be int he contest, since he did lose last year, and their are 2 Mavs in the contest. I said Luther was snubbed. They said that Luther is still young and maybe next year!!!

 

Wtf kapano deserves it the most out of everyone selected. He's leading the league in 3 point shooting with a decent amount of attempts. He's doing what novak would be doing if JVG let him play.
